A pneumatic impact wrench is a must on the top nut.

Thanks for this. My  lower bearing went out and ate the metal up on the spindle, so I'll be doing this soon. Only thing I might add is to make sure when it's replaced that it spins freely!

Glad I stumbled across this. Went to swap out my spindles today...with an impact 🙄. The bolts on the first one came out perfectly. Got to the 2nd one and strip the heads off two bolts and the other two just won't budge. Gonna try my ratchet tmw and I guess do some drilling. Thanks for the vid. Super helpful.

I'm just a beginner at this whole lawnmower thing, but wouldn't it be helpful to use a little liquid wrench before snapping that bolt.😆

I loosen the bolts, then use an impact to remove them quickly, with no breakage risk.

Good video - I ran into the issue of a frozen routing pulley on my 48 inch deck.  Decided to rebuild it with all new spindles, blades, pulleys and belt.  I only ran it for one minute before I realized that the belt was rubbing against the rear support mounts resulting in a ruined belt.  Trouble shooting all of the assembly resulted in no overtightening of the pulleys, etcetera; all turned freely.  I did not make any adjustments to the five mower deck mounting points or mowing height.  Today I am replacing the belt because I suspect that the aftermarket belt may be just a bit too long.  If the rubbing continues and no solution apparent, then I may have to grind down the bypass points at the far rear to make room for the belt to pass with out damage.  Interesting issue to solve.

That bolt was gonna break anyway, impact or no impact.if you were going the wrong way tightening of course it was gonna break. You have a pneumatic impact you could turn down the air.

If the blades are stuck on is this an alternative to getting them off by replacing the spindle

I have a major problem that you touched on at the 4:40 mark, the small idler pulley. The bolt twisted off while I was attempting to remove the nut   (using a ratchet wrench). You're right, it is welded in and not easily removable. I have no idea how to repair that. Any ideas at all would be most appreciated.

Not really impressed with those spindle screws I was trying to torque them to 25fpds (just because) and broke one out of the twelve. I think they should be able to go a little further than that.
