No one ever talks about the difference in shoes today vs. In the 80's. Larry Bird wore converse weapons. They weighed 3 to 4 lbs for the pair. Modern shoes in the NBA are less than 1.5 to just under 2 lbs. a pair. Not to mention better grip and flexibility of the soles.
The changes in what's considered carrying would make today's game easy mode for Mr. Bird.
There needs to be a stat in basketball. Points involved in. Let me think about this, points you had a hand in making. Because if you counted all of the points. Larry Bird helped orchestrate by badass passing and utilizing the people around him. Larry would be an all-time winning scorer.
Bird wasn’t interested in stats. He was interested in wins. It’s like Gretzky. Yes he put up stats but winning championships was what he was about. Individually he was competitive and wanted to beat and embarrass you but not over winning the game. If he had a great game and they lost he wasn’t satisfied or happy. Winning came first always. That’s just not really the same today.
