New York fashion week, London fashion week, Milan fashion week… Lot to process here.
I've seen some sentiment that New York fashion week and London fashion week... aren't really needed anymore. I went through the shows (needless to say, there were a LOT), plus some of the big London and Milan shows so far, and there was a lot to talk about, but I get the criticism. As I've said before, there's way too much fashion. With the economy and planet in the state that they're in, I think it's more important than ever to question if we need all of this. That being said, I get into VIVET and the comparisons to Kanye/Ye, the PETA protest at the COS show, the possible return of avant-garde fashion, and general industry trends.
I also take a look at Burberry, Gucci, McQueen, Coach, Thom Browne and a few other shows, before getting into the seemingly endless creative director musical chairs still somehow going on at Kering.
As always, this isn't a comprehensive runway report. More just a quick overview of things that caught my attention, what I liked, what I wasn't exactly feeling, and as always trying to see if there's some common thread weaving through everything. But there's more to come! So stay tuned for some of the biggest shows to come from Milan and Paris.
