Rage Against The Machine is DIFFERENT. 🔥
That Hip-Hop + Metal fusion, the message, and the Woodstock ’99 performance was unreal.

👉 What’s your favorite RATM song or live performance?
👉 Should I dive into more Rage next?

Much love — appreciate y’all rocking with me 🤘

RATM is a perfect crossover between revolutionary Civil Right Politics, Hip Hop and Metal. Their lyrics are deep politcially.

I humbly request KNOW YOUR ENEMY

And this song was 7 years old in 1999.

Zach grew up in Irvine, a city in Orange County CA.  He was in high school with Will Ferrell.

Wow, Zack is so tired he can barely breathe. Don't sleep on the album version of that song man.

Bro, Rage Against the Machine is THE reason that the rap/metal genre exists. Their debut album literally changed the game. I saw them at festival in 1992 in New Orleans where they played immediately prior to Metallica. This was when Metallica was the biggest band on planet earth - the pinnacle of their popularity. Rage was not widely known at the time, with only 1 song released for radio. Rage ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED a crowd of 250,000 people. They had a quarter of a million people bouncing in unison and it was the craziest shit I've ever witnessed. After their set, people were so exhausted that an estimated 25-30k people straight up LEFT... bounced without seeing Metallica, and I was one of them. For several weeks after that festival, rock radio DJ's were talking about this, "Rage Against the Machine," that tore the ass out of a festival crowd so bad that 30,000 people left without even seeing Metallica play. Again, at this point in time Metallica was HUGE. They were THE metal band to see live and this crazy ass, pissed off, rap/funk/metal, nuclear bomb of a band called Rage Against the Machine just came into the scene like a car plowing through a food court. From that day in 1992, one of RATM's lyrics, "Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me!" has been the mantra of my life.

"Down Rodeo"  my jam is. 💚🤙🏼

I love Zach's flow and lyrics. Their debut album is one of those albums where every song is 🔥

Hey I'm technically in this video, I turned 18 two days before Woodstock 99 started. Crazy event, that's for sure.

Their debut album is solid start to finish, and incredibly well produced. Anything RATM you listen to from here on out should be studio recordings, preferably with the lyrics 🤘

That Laurence Fishburne reference is interesting because this song played at the end of The Matrix.

Also, calling them "a threat to the powers that be" is fairly accurate. They were "banned" from radio play for a bit post 9/11.

There are two things I love about this journey you are on. 1. I feel like I get to hear these songs for the first time again through you, which is a gift in and of itself 2. Your genuine reactions. I don't ever feel like you are trying to pander to the crowd and give them what they want. I have always felt your reactions are real and authentic. Cheers mate!

Know Your Enemy. It’s got Maynard from Tool doing backup vocals.

"How long? Not long, 'cause what you reap is what you sow!"

Their songs need to be played louder now more than ever.

Their first album is legend.

Fun trivia fact, Tom Morello (Rage) and Adam Jones (Tool) went to high school together and had a band called Electric Sheep

Killing in the name of

Rage Against the Machine (RATM) are from Los Angeles, California, USA.
They formed there in 1991, bringing together Zack de la Rocha, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk. This band were and are FIRE!.
