“Peter O’Toole having inconveniently having died’ Priceless 👏👏
A pub crawl with such wit and historical knowledge. Keep it up. 👍😀

Enjoying some of your older videos Tweedy. Ian

I’ve decided to follow in your footsteps, as it’s a beautiful October day. So I thought why not?! However, I had a quick meal in Chinatown instead and I skipped the Blue Posts, as I know you did a subsequent video on those.
Cheers from the Dog and Duck!

You mist the Star and Garter in Poland St and the Jhon Snow both great pubs, lots to chose from pos a revisit  enjoy the channel very much.

I remember being in the French in the early nineties and seeing Michael Elphick in there too, would also see Bernard in the Coach before his operation to remove his leg(s). In those days Soho was fabulously seedy, now - it's just fabulous. 😆

Just moved into soho square and am absolutely loving the pub culture 🍺

I once frequented the Colony room. Once being the operative word. I was taken by a Soho 'personality' I met in the Coach and remember being distinctly underwhelmed. The definition of cliquey. I was glad to get out of there and back into the Coach amongst 'proper' people.

I used to work in Soho back in the 1980s, and knew pretty much every boozer in the district. I actually worked selling  booze to pubs , nightclubs, afternoon drinking clubs, and restaurants. Jeffrey Bernard  smoked Senior Service, and was constantly pissed, along with most of the diehard clientele of those establishments. I would  say that I remember it well, but I was plastered most of the time !

Great video, Tweedy. In the 80s I worked on Shaftesbury Avenue and frequently drank in The Coach & Horses aka Norman's, when the famous Norman Balon was the wonderfully grumpy landlord. Enjoyed many an evening there, yarning with the regulars. Never the same since.

Did these pubs last May except for the French House which I could not get in. The Dog and Duck was my favourite. And yes, the 3 soho  Coach and Horses is confusing.

Hello. I just found this channel, and it is great. Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell played at the Apollo, around the corner from The Coach and Horses. I worked there at the time as an usher and saw the play hundreds of times. Tom Conti replaced Peter O'Toole and was much less everything than Peter O'Toole had been. It was later revived at the Old Vic with Peter O'Toole back in the saddle, though by then I was living in Canada and I missed it.

Great channel… really enjoying the history side of the pubs … keep going ! Cheers 🍻

Short but very enjoyable.  Thank you.

Thank you for this video, I don't drink. ;) but I know a lot of people love that pub and I was curious how it looked like !!👏💚

Found your channel yesterday. Superb. Having been in the pub trade and previously lived in London, you are reminding me of happy times. Not sure about your pronunciation of Meux though…..

Wow surprisingly sharp for someone who has just had 5 pints.  I’d be throwing up.  😂😂😂😂. Sorry.  But it’s true.

Ha ha this reminded  me when I was 16 I spent a day in London on a cricket tour..went in a Jeffrey Bernard local called the Intrepid Fox. Sadly gone. Dog n Duck looked a great boozer. Nice one mate🍺👍

Love watching

Brilliant: now an ex pat in Montreal but used to live in EC1. Sadly don’t get back home enough. Used to read Geoff’s column in a free paper if I recall right.
Keep em coming.

I used to enjoy drinking in the Intrepid Fox,  sadly gone now.
