President Nelson has constantly advised us to seek personal revelation.. and recently stated: "In the coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guidance of the Holy Ghost." The Church's role is not to carry us through the veil, but to teach us how to walk through it ourselves.

As a lifetime student of scriptures and authors discussing scripture, I've totally wondered the same.  And, there are others, such as Hebrew and ancient text  scholar Michael Heiser who has written on many theological themes, and his great book Unseen Realm. I've read it through 3 times and it perfectly lays out the earth created by Gods, and what they were trying to accomplish and why.  He starts at Genesis and goes through the Bible teaching what Christ actually said on those topics. Then there's Tim Alberino, both of whom you would find fascinating on these themes.  Once again, thank you for your musings. I look forward to them. Christ encouraged us to seek and find truths that Bring us closer to the Father

“If You Could High To Kolob” was written by W. W. Phelps.

I was about 12 when I came to understand that in regards to family, the mortal mirrors the eternal . I knew nothing of the church till after I was 22.

I was born in 1954 and grew up in the church hearing these stories but I think it is just as God told Moses: And worlds without number have I created;
And the first man of all men have I called Adam, which is many.
But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you.
I think the Lord was giving us some knowledge of His power and creations but one of those things we will not learn more of until after the Lord comes. I can't wait for that day to have all things revealed! I do hope that we, as a people, soon become worthy enough to receive more of the plates of Nephi.

If we are to be exalted, receive eternal marriage, then we become heirs with Christ we become Gods and follow the same path to our Heavenly Father and Mother, who will be the Grand Parent Gods to our spirit children. It is so obvious and clear. We will become the only God for our universe. Our children who become Gods will go through the same process we went through and our God went through. The family relationship on earth only represents the eternal family progression.

Thanks Conor! You do a great and much needed service in keeping these teachings from Joseph Smith, our Dispensational Head, alive! This has special value for me as it accords powerfully with what I was taught in the first class I ever attended at an early Priesthood class with the Missionaries just before joining the church in East London in 1972. The class material for 1972 was Answers to Gospel Questions by Joseph Fielding Smith. Fortunately the plurality was clearly covered and I havd made the writings of the Prophet Joseph Smith the foundation of my testimony and conversion.
Needless to say I cannot see any justification for removing Joseph's Lectures on Faith from the Book of Commandments (D&C) in 1921.
More power to you Brother.
Paul

It’s too bad Joseph passed so young. The amount of insight he was able to witness and share is mind blowing. These teachings are the most important concepts to me. It shows we have a real purpose and real order to the Universe. We are not just a favorite creation but literal offspring of a much more Divine nature.

Without this teaching, we would be as lost as all other Christian churches are when it comes to the Holy Trinity which is extremely confusing to children and barely understood by adults. One spirit occupying 3 distinct forms that prayed to himself and begged to himself to have this cup pass. It seems much more far fetched to me than our family units here are an extension of our heavenly ones.

I would love to see church leadership revisit and ponder these teachings. I’m not saying dwell on this but to confirm and add some clarity to how important families are. The Devine nature of mankind. The ability for us to have hope in eternal progression. Can someone like me that is not a Savior do it to?  I get it may be too much for some, but to me this is what sets us apart from the rest. It gives me purpose and without it I would be lost as to why anything exists.

I don't know why many Christians find these teachings Blasphemy. We are the offspring of God why would we not have the seed of godhood with us.

I’ve read Sermon on the Grove as well. Both lectures are beautiful beyond words…I LOVE these beautiful truths, I always feel so grateful for our beloved prophet Joseph…

Idk how I can like this a million more times brother!!! This one was a banger! I think it’s beautiful to keep pondering on this and I love it but I don’t base my salvation on it. But I ponder this stuff allllll the time and it makes 1000% sense to me. Def nothing I stand up and teach, but when I’m sitting around sipping on my drank, I think about it. So great work as always!! You’re a boss!!!

The fact that we havent received much more light and knowledge on this subject since Joseph's death is a reflection of our faith. We are not prepared to receive it. We have not exercised our faith sufficiently like joseph, the brother of jared, nephi, moses, or etc. We must prepare our hearts and minds for further knowledge while continually exercising our faith and repenting of our sins daily. Eventually you'll reach a point in your faith where the Lord cannot withhold anything from you and will show you all things, Ether chapter 3 verse 26

I love the King Follett Discourse…read it many times…

As infinite as the universe is, and as likely that there are innumerable worlds, it only makes sense that there are innumerable kingdoms being presided over by

I love the follet discourse!!! Joseph said you want to hear some stuff… “hold my cider” 😂😂😂😂

I had a vision once, I was driving and discussing this subject with my passenger, suddenly I was out of my body and seeing a heavenly family portrait, just like an earthly family portrait, with aunts and uncles and grandparents...  if God was once like us, and we may become like him, then of course there are many Heavenly Hosts wich are "Gods" in other realms, we haven't been taught this because we do not worship any of the others and this doctrine can be very confusing.

My family is addicted to listening to you. We love your messages.

for the Ensign Magazine, the summer of 1971 was a big year for the Discourse. First off, during General Conference the President Joseph Fielding Smith gave a sermon "The Most Important Knowledge" that referenced and hinted at both the King Follett Discourse and Lectures on Faith. Then in both the April and May issues, the Discourse was printed in two parts. Later in the 1978 addition of BYU Studies Quarterly vol.18:2, part of it had articles dedicated to the Discourse, including an amalgamated version from other records.

This was a great coverage of this topic. 😊 thanks. These are things that used to be taught more. Now that I am in my mid sixties I recognize that it’s not even mentioned anymore.

I’m almost all the way through.  This was VERY GOOD!

Thank you for being willing to teach these things logically and calmly.

I really enjoyed this episode.
