I thought Russel was a bit strange and over the top, not really my kind of humor. After my divorce from my ex wife, my 14 year old daughter ended up in rehab and Brand showed up on visting day. He didn't bring press or cameras to let everyone know that he was helping kids. He was generous with his time, he told inspirational stories, joked (appropriately) and gave his rings, bracelets and necklaces to all the kids.
My daughter credits him as a huge influence to get and stay clean.
I have the utmost respect for Russel Brand now.
Edit- My daughter is doing great. She is married with two kids 4 and 2, boy and girl. She works for the government and spends her free time at the beach, rivers or mountains with the kids.
