There was a recall on the 4520 for a engine replacement but dealer's did not tell everyone about it.

The ai voicing in these videos is absolutely brutal

The 2840 was the Economy Model of its time. It could be rebuilt and reliable as ever. It still commands a good price if Maintenance was done.
The 2940,50,55 was very difficult to beat. So was the 4040,50,55 and 60.

Compare those to any Electronic Model today.

Decide for yourself.

I disagree on all of these tractors on this list except the 2840 I owned one for 2 months had nothing but problems, hydraulic pump blow out when I was mowing hay, I had to unhook the tractor from the dic mower, man handle the steering wheel just to get it to turn cause obviously, no hydraulics, no power steering, while I was going down the road the radiator started pouring coolet, got back to my shop got the hydraulic pump and radiator replaced and refilled oil and coolant but then 3 quit working, fixed that, but what drove the final nail in the coffin was when the head gasket decided to blow

Sold it for parts a week and a half later

If your thanking about buying a 2840 john deere, my advice, dont.

Yeah, I always believe AI videos that say things like "The John Deere two thousand nine hundred and fifty-five..." Yeah, that's how people who really know what they're talking about would say it...

The 8010 had a 671 Detroit engine, on recall the transmissions were replaced

We ran a 4520 for 30 years. It was a great, reliable tractor.

Some of the tractors on this video had a reputation for being troublesome, but the 2955??? My 2955 has over 14,000 hours on it and is as reliable as any other tractor I own.

John Deere model mumbers featured here are read first two numbers, then second two numbers-1010 is read Ten-Ten, 5020 is read Fifty-Twenty, etc. Train your AI properly. It makes you look amateurish, to say the least.

Did anyone else notice that the thumbnail actually says “Deree f*cked up”?

@dbrownyzfr1 11 months ago

Can't agree about the 1010. I seen a 1010 clear 240 acres to make farmland, on the same land it cut and bale hay all day, years later, I used it to pick up 20,000lbs of pecans. And that was after my father had worn it completely out. I haven't used it in about 5 years. But give me 15 minutes and it will start right up. This tractor has been beat and abused beyond what you can imagine and it simply does not quit.

THATS ME ON THE 2840 LOL

The Eighty-Tens were all returned to JD and rear-ends were upgraded and became 80-20's. One owner failed to return his tractor and it is the only 80-10 known to exist!

My first tractor was a fifty twenty. Dad run his fifty twenty for years. We never had any of the problems you talked about. 7.5 gallons fuel per hour in a heavy load. 7.o gallon of hour per hour with turbo. I think you need check your research!!!!

Some of these models had problems but, in reality, the problems were completely different from what the narrator describes. The eighty sis thirty and eighty six forty had liner hydrolysis problems. Deere fixed that by offering an eighty six-fifty engine as a retrofit with a nominal sum and the old engine .

The problem with the eighty eight fifty was Deere itself. They made the mistake of direct mounting the engine and transmission to the tractor frame. This was solved by a separate floating frame for the engine. Also, the use of a Cummins or Caterpillar engine.
