@29:18 you can see the white fletchings of your first shot (bottom left arrow), then skip forward to @29:22 (after the camera restarts) and that arrow has now moved to be further right, and elevated.
Not saying it isn't impressive, but integrity will build my confidence in this method, and the tutorial more than anything. All 4 shots were incredible! Why pull, and re-stick an arrow? Things like this makes me raise an eyebrow when guys show up to the scoring booth with a 250+ scorecard. I need to start carrying an eraser with me to my next shoot, too.
I'm sure others will spam me with replies denying it, and calling me a liar, but watch it on full screen mode. Zoom in at both time stamps, and see for yourself (you don't even have to in order to see it). Camera angles don't lie.
Jeff, I started trad 7 months ago and since i started i've been shooting instinctive, nothing wrong with the fellas who gap, string walk, face walk etc, etc. I've tried learning gap, but did not work for me. Now i have not shot past 40 yards that's my max ever my comfort zone is 20 yards maybe 25 but after that im not consistent. I have learned so much from your videos Jeff. Thank ypu!
i just started shooting instinctive and am actually getting pretty good now up to 20 yards but I'm practicing almost every day for at least an hour per day, also my name is Frank this is my wife's you tube account. Here is how i explain to my friends who are amazed at my performance now after 4 months of practicing. I tell them have you every thrown a football or shot hopes with a basketball. you don't see a quarterback aiming down his arm or calculating distance no he just looks were he wants the ball to go and it goes there rather not the target is moving or not. That's instinctive shooting and pro quarterbacks can do this so good because of practice. That's why i cannot shot anywhere as good as our host but the more i practice the better i get and you no longer need to range your shots or creep your string just look and shoot just like a pro quarterback. But to get good like he said don't overweight your bow so you can comfortably practice. Thank you for your videos and instruction and God Bless Brother. L&R from a faithful follower.
Good to see someone having so much fun and so accurate. I have shot for 30 plus years and became so rigid and methodical. FInally gave it up. It just wasn't fun anymore.
I killed a soda can at 80 yards last weekend. I basically envisioned the arch on a target so small and so far away that I could barely see it, and nailed it dead center. Now I work to duplicate that act of computing the arch.
One of the better videos you’ve done on the processes of instinctive aiming. Proprioception, the brain’s ability to subconsciously reproduce learned experiences. This has allowed me to visualize the arrow’s arc to my intended target and with that arc programmed, I let my brain subconsciously align my bow arm to that arc. If I have a clean release pulling straight back through the string, and follow that shot with a good follow through to the conclusion of the shot, my arrow will follow the path I visualized. It takes MANY practice shots to be able to produce that visualized shot. It is not a quick fix to accuracy, but it brings you right to that point that Byron Ferguson described as “become the arrow”. To me, that is the essence of traditional archery. Thank you, Jeff.
Great video Jeff. Whenever I start second guessing my instinctive approach and peek at the arrow my accuracy suffers. Trusting my sight picture works so well. Thanks much!
I've been shooting instinctive all wrong for years. I started using tips from your videos and my accuracy and consistency have improved dramatically in a short time. I really like your approach and the way you lay it out. Thanks! I just subscribed
From my experience, it’s important to not discourage new traditional archers from aiming. My wife tried instinctive shooting for a solid year. She was shooting multiple days a week and found very little improvement. It was so discouraging that she wanted to quit. She started string walking and aiming and her scores in our indoor bowhunter league increased by 150-200%. Instinctive is great but some people can’t pick up on it for whatever reason and that doesn’t make the archery experience any less “pure.”
