If you get caught using AI because you accidentally left a paragraph of notes, you deserve the scolding coming to you because you seriously don't care to do a proper edit anyway.

My supervisor is so obsessed with Gemini. We were supposed to talk through marketing materials and he told us to generate options with AI instead of just…writing blurbs ourselves. Insane behavior actually. Especially when he shared his screen, prompted Gemini, said “oh those are all bad” and then just told Gemini to give him different options!!! Hello?? Hello??? I am trapped in an insane asylum called corporate America.

I write fanfic and seeing my progress from age 11 until now has honestly been such a joy, even if it's just a silly hobby. I'm sad kids are going to torpedo their progress for the sake of perceived perfection.

The 'hitting a redo button over and over' comment really hit for me.

I have been a visual artist for my whole life, and there was a time a year or so ago where I bought into the bs idea that all artists had to learn to 'use AI as a tool' or risk being left behind. But trying to generate images just left me totally exhausted, and didn't lead to me creating anything. It feels like sitting at a slot machine of images, pulling a lever again and again. Never hitting the jackpot, constantly being engaged, but never proud or satisfied.

I recently went to a funeral where the eulogizer (who knew the person that died super well) USED CHAT GPT TO WRITE THE EULOGY AND A SHITTY POEM. We're living in the dumbest dystopia ever

also, i think when people try to sell their argument as "ai is like a friend to bounce idea off" they are actively ignoring the bias that AI is built to have, it'll clap for your shittiest ideas, that's what's it's built to do. AI can't be something to bounce idea off of because it's a machine built to keep you using it. As a student who's literally learning how these algorithms are built, it's bizarre that these people think this carefully crafted packet of algorithms meant to hook, steal, and keep you engaged and actively AWAY from giving yourself time, and sit with your ideas is ever truly going to help you

Tell me why my ACADEMIC WRITING PROFESSOR had Chat GPT in our college curriculum, and spent a whole class waxing poetry about using it. You could really tell who cared about their education, because only half the class was pissed, the other half used Chat GPT in our mid-term and final exams. When the "rate your class and professor" survey came around at the end of the semester, I did leave a Karen esque review tbh, and I regret nothing. Why am I paying tuition for a class when the professor can't be bothered to actually teach 😒😒

As an indie author who has been publishing since 2013 and will NEVER touch gen AI, I'm seeing readers accuse innocent authors of using AI simply because they're "too" consistent with releases or they rapid release (stockpiling manuscripts and then releasing them over a few months). The witch hunt is really sad. I'm also a professional editor and AI cannot replace a human editor. Most of us are more than happy to work out payment plans! For example, I had a client who paid $50 a month until their $500 bill was paid off.
