One advantage of living in an area with rich audiophiles, especially when people like me couldn’t afford the equipment we really wanted, was that they often upgraded and sold off their “old” stuff at great prices. In the early ‘90’s, I had been looking for 3 years to upgrade to a serious turntable but couldn’t afford the level of TT I wanted. One day my local salesman called me at work and said get over there right now. He had a customer who fell in love with the looks of the Basis Ovation TT with a Graham tone arm. He traded in his Linn LP12 / Ittok LVII that he had owned for 2 years but had never played. I bought the LP12 for $900 which was even cheap back then. It is still my turntable.
