In the Lord of the Rings, the enemy took what was good and twisted it to it's own purposes.

They are undermining the core story Lewis was telling, which is that you can know God. He was teaching theology in a way children not only could understand but could experience in themselves. This is what Hollywood is trying to undermine.

In short something based on Christianity/christian themes is being adapted by people who view Christianity as "problematic"

My issue with Gerwig is that she keeps being given things that are inherently wholesome and turns them bitter. I just won't watch anything with her name on it anymore.

"A fairy tale is not holy" is a sentence Lewis would absolutely rail against

I used to be a Unitarian Universalist in Toronto.  They claimed they accepted all types of spiritual belief.  But I noticed they are actually united by what they reject, rather than what they accept.   The church members included a Buddhist practice group and other eastern meditation techniques. I met people who said they could see a person's aura.   There were people who believed in reincarnation, astral projection, psychic powers and all sorts of other practices from every part of the world.  But nobody there ever talked about Christ.  There were no bible studies and no part of the congregation that seemed to like anything remotely Christian.  Their whole philosophy seemed to be "anything but Christ."

Lewis was a Christian author and they are simply trying to mock him.

Attacking Aslan is just another way that they can disrespect the truth that is written behind him.

Something I can't help but find irony in is how Lewis wasnt a lifelong Christian. His book Mere Christianity was based off the radio talks he did during the Blitz, where he spoke of how he had to reconnect with his faith in spite of all the atrocities that seemed to disprove the existence of God.
For Gerwig to seem to make a deliberately calculated move to remove the Christianity out of this story just hurts. Because there can be no question Lewis would not be happy with this.

Having read the whole Narnia series twice,  I'm fairly certain that there's a scene where they discuss Aslan transforming into His true form, because He's known by another form and name by the people of Earth. It always seemed obvious to me that He was heavily implied to literally be the Savior.

As a Catholic, it annoys me when someone says that they went to Catholic school, and then does some really out-there stuff.
Catholic schools are generally getting better, but seriously... going to Catholic school or being a former altar server does not make one an expert in Catholicism.

My prediction: they won't make the Last Battle. Netflix pulls the plug when projects disappoint; that'll happen way sooner than the final film would.

What do they call Jesus? The "Lion of Judah"... so she's wrong in one way and misses the point.

I never was a Narnia fan, but I am a Christian and that basic knowledge shouldn't be mocked.

Jesus is the Lion of Judah. To say the lion does not represent Jesus because he doesn't appear as a lion on the cross is either gross ignorance or disingenuous.

I'm not Christian. Im not exactly atheist either but I lean more in that direction. I genuinely think changing Aslan to this odd genderbent ziggy stardust effeminate version is messed up. While an androgynous ziggy stardust lizard lion sounds super dope. Put it in a different story. Christians deserve their myths (storytelling tools) as much as  anyone else does. Aslan is explicitly Christian. So keeping him faithfully rendered in that lense is the right thing to do.
