My personal theory is that the player's speech is supposed to be the player character's speech. Unlike in Banban, we've never been called "the quiet type" or something like that- and Poppy actively asks us "Did you kill her?", in Chapter 2. Silence. "Good." I think our speech, whatever we, the players controlling the character, say, is supposed to be what the player character is saying.
7:39 The idea of a 'forced witnessing' as a form of torture is so dark but fits perfectly. Our silence isnt just a game mechanic; it's the physical weight of our survivor's guilt. We didn't speak up back then to stop Playtime Co. so now we literally cannot speak. Btw brilliant video !! 😊❤
The player character could be a mute and lack vocal cords or had a severe throat injury that resulted in the player not being to speak and lacking the ability to make other noises through the mouth or throat.
I think mob wants the player to stay silent so they can keep bros identity a secret until the big reveal, this kinda hints that we have heard ourselves on a vhs tape, so if the bro speaks and we have heard ourselves on a tape that would reveal the player easily.
My theory is because he has extreme guilt from not going to his work when it was the hour of joy, extreme guilt can lead to mutism under a lot of circumstances.
5:55 but considering the fact that almost every toy gave us a chance to go out of factory before hunting us down seens like we were not a part of the hour of joy or experiments, they remember we worked here, but they always gave us a chance to leave as if we are innocent and didn't know what happened, even Poppy showed us the VHS Tape of hour of joy as if player isn't aware of anything, they came back thinking there are still people alive. I don't think player is anywhere involved in the hour of joy or the experiments considering how the bigger bodies treat us
The player is talking in the game. It’s just MOB Games doesn’t want to have a free actor for the player because that was revealed too much about the character.
Maybe we’re mute? Or again, giving the guy or girl a voice would interfere with the narrative, because my guess is that mob wants us to either imagine ourselves as the character or imagine the character as whoever we want
I really hope at the end of Poppy playtime when we kill the prototype and burned down the factory we say “GoodBye Oliver.” and the credits show The Player: Mystery…
Did you kill her?🧸
