I think Coleman is a great young American intellectual

Unfortunately, I just found Thomas Sowell. Never mentioned in public school. Love him! Brilliant man!

I hate when people say Sowell is a national treasure,  hes actually a global treasure.

One thing folks forget is Dr Sowell started out as a Communist, got a government job and using his education realized that perspective was not right. He unlike most can view both sides of an argument because he was in both camps. Good stuff.

Imagine if the education system ever makes Thomas Sowell required reading... What a wonderful uniter of this country it would be

This is an excellent discussion! And having students read and discuss Sowell's “A Conflict of Visions” is wonderful!

Thank you. I am happy to hear Sowell taught to students.

Sowell also wrote a book before Conflict of Visions called Knowledge and Decisions inspired by Hayek's essay which received praise from Hayek.

I am so impressed with the questions the students are asking and with Coleman’s skill in directing the discussion. This should have been happening on every college campus. I hope UATX continues to grow and develop into a true place of learning excellence. ❤

Wow, hats off to this instructor for introducing Sowell to his students.

Excellent. Thomas Sowell is a national treasure.

Why are there not more views on these videos? This needs to be shared!

This so great that young people are reading and discussing Conflict of Visions. I didn’t discover this and Thomas Sowell until after I was an adult so very happy the next generation is learning about Sowell’s work early in life.

I love the Sowell’s work is finding new audiences

I want to point out that Sowell went out of his way to say, in the book, that constrained and unconstrained are NOT the only visions, and that it is in fact a spectrum, not a binary, even within individuals. He says that virtually no one is ALL constrained or unconstrained. IIRC, he even lists some real-world examples of modern political movements incorporating both constrained and unconstrained elements.

Would love to see you sit down with Thomas Sowell one day. I know he’s up there in age now, and I don't know if he's still doing interviews, but that would be an all-time conversation.

Thomas Sowell was born in 1930, and is 95 years old now.

Coleman, you are the REAL DEAL, and you are fighting the good fight. I'm such an admirer of Mr. Sowell, and I'd like to think that you are going to carry that torch well into the future. You're getting down in the trenches and actually talking to young people. Please, don't ever lose your nerve (or your verve, for that matter). By the way, I love your music, COLDXMAN. Is there more on the way?

Highly recommend this book.  Halfway through, I was struggling to get through it.  It's definitely not the most stimulating of all his books.  But the second I finished it, I reread it again very quickly.

What a brilliant  talk.  I'm an 84 year old white woman living in South Africa. I have always admired Sowell, and now I'm definitely a Coleman fan. Such clear, succinct ideas. The analogy of the family being a metaphor for Communism is superb. I wish I had thought of that.l but of course, the benign parents are not the same as a government, and tens of millions were killed in the last century to try to enforce the Socialist ideals - and even then it didnt work. Read The Gulag Archipeligo which is a true story.
