Driver of these trains here.

The coach you travelled in is actually about a decade newer than the Mk3s used on the Cornish Riviera. I'm pretty confident those have seen one or two refurbishments more than these though.... The AC in these coaches are broken more often than not as well.

No idea why they folded out the top bed, but if you have paid for solo occopancy, just fold out the bottom one. All of them have fresh bedding in them.

I haven't seen anyone mention it but all the beds are premade so you could have sleept on the bottom bunk if you wanted, and as some one else said there is water in the cabinet behind the mirror

In the Scandinavia countries you can fill drinking water bottles from the tap.

Watching from Finland! Speaking of, to address a couple of things in the video.
rule of thumb: it’s almost always chilly outside in the Nordics (apart from the occasional heatwave) but a bit too warm indoors. The insulation is almost too good and the radiators run hot a lot of the time.

2nd rule of thumb: don’t expect scandinavians to approach you. It’s not ’cause they hate you that they don’t, they just respect yours and others privacy too much to do that. And this is especially applicable when on public transport. You may find some chatty old people sometimes out and about but that’s about it :)

I think it's cheaper if you book early. These trains can handle the extreme cold going on up there, but think they are being replaced. They are big time nostalgic for swedes.

Above the sink is a mirror. Behind it is a cabinet with water containers and mugs.

12:08 - I’ve been to Sweden 4 times now and they just don’t do small talk, especially with strangers. It’s a respecting-your-privacy thing, which is great, but also quite strange to people visiting from the UK. Saying that, I’m a complete introvert so I LOVE my Stockholm trips because I don’t feel under any pressure whatsoever to make conversation if I don’t want to. They also had social distancing before it was cool - never take an empty seat next to someone if there’s another option available!

If you have your own room you can pick any bunk you like!

Zingo is a classic Swedish soda from the 50's.

I'm in Stockholm, Sweden. 😊

Watching from Sweden. The 3rd largest city way down south right next to Copenhagen. SJ's prices are pretty high. Their pricing model has been criticized for decades. It's cool to see a happy and bubbly person travel on Swedish trains. :face-red-heart-shape: I'm a former train driver and and I love traveling by rail.:face-blue-smiling:

The metal bars up there are for putting suitcases or backpacks. These are very old refurbished train cars regularly cleaned and maintained but its an old style sleeper train. 😅 Nostalgia for older Swedish people. It's meant for this Northern trip and for trips to Germany. There are other more modern train sleeper alternatives for other routes.

When you're in a sleeper wagon it's 1st class that means that you should have the morning coffey for free. I've done this trip several times but in a Couchett, 6 beds, that is 2nd class. And that others have wrote you could sleept in the lower bed. The Swedish - Norwegian border in a tunnel, if you're lucky you could see it.
