These are about as hardy as the himalayan blackberry that grows in the lower 48.  I start them from seed too

I would try lopping off all but a foot of the sideways planted ones so new growth would be more central, columnar, like the air layered method.

I would say if you planting raspberry or blackberry ingrown is not good ...that's why are Invasive plants later you gonna have all yard with raspberry   ...honeyberry do very good ingrown ..

Maybe "Aurora" and "Borealis" varieties?  That matches the A & B.  I think these two can pollinate each other.
