Airline pilot here. It's noticeable when flying over Myanmar how underdeveloped the country is compared to neighbouring nations. The coastal towns lack roads and infrastructure.

This is one of the most horrifying conflicts no one is talking about. Myanmar is quietly falling apart in real time.

Hey!  A citizen from Myanmar here. I'm glad  the world still lays their eyes on the matter of our country.

I have a friend who is a Chin Christian. Before she escaped by paying a smuggling agency to Malaysia through Thailand, she fought with a Chin militia against the junta. I hope this conflict ends sometime soon so people all over Myanmar can go back home and live in peace.

A tragedy to be told: a few years ago, after a census and a democratic election in Myanmar, everyone thought this country had so much potential, and investments poured in. At the time, I was working in the telecommunications industry and met many of the world's biggest telecom giants competing for a license there. But it turned out the census data was flawed, and then the military returned to power. All the bright prospects were replaced with an atmosphere of disappointment, and now the country is embroiled in a civil war. It's truly heartbreaking.

I volunteered at a Burmese refugee medical center last year while in pharmacy school. I was in the border town of Mae Sot, Thailand. It was an eye opening experience to the conflict and the impact to its citizens.

As a Burmese man myself, sometimes I wish I could be proud of my nation.
I was one of the lucky few who went abroad early on after the coup happened. While I’m safe, I feel very hollow inside. Not only I can’t find anyone to relate to, most people don’t know Burma/Myanmar even exists.
This makes me start to dissociate myself from my Burmese identity and live as someone who I’m not and forgets what my people go through.
And every time I remember, it kills me a little.

Thanks for bringing light to this issue. While I don’t expect most foreign powers to get involved in this conflict, I hope more people across the globe will be aware about it.

As a Burmese girl, I wish children who are born during the war to survive and wish them happiness.

Myanmar is about to have 3 name changes in my lifetime.

Viewing from Singapore, I always felt that Myanmar like other countries beside her, have a bright future. The recent civil war not only ruins everything, it turn back progress the Burmese people made for decades. There’s no words to describe the sadness and madness that this civil war brings. I only hope that their people are able to recover from this.

I had a ESL student from there. She was a doctor in the U.S., but she went back during COVID. Not sure what happened to her. Wonderful woman.

Myanmar used to be the fastest growing country in southeast Asia, with the best international airport in the region. And it saddens me that everything we've done before is slowly going down the drain.

As a Myanmar citizen, We can't help about anything anymore. Our country has never been well-developed. When we had a light of hope, it got snatched away by dictatorship.

I travelled in Myanmar 10 years ago and it was such a beautiful country with very nice people. It's sad to see the condition it is in today 😥

As someone from Myanmar, it really pains me with what’s happening in the country. So many youths are dying in jungles and those abroad are barely going by with minimal wage. All this happened due to power being held by poorly educated idiots with backward way of thinking and greed.

At 1:52, just to clarify — the cigars you see are not drugs. They’re traditional Myanmar cheroots made from natural tobacco, which many people smoke instead of cigarettes. They’re not marijuana either.
In Myanmar, the major drug problems involve meth and opium, not these local tobacco cigars.

This is a very good documentary. Very accurate. My wife is Burmese and we are currently undergoing many difficulties that are a direct result of this conflict. I can say that this is articulated well, very well organized and genuinely 'hit the nail on the head'. Well done. Freedom for Myanmar!

As a thai, It saddens me how little we care about our Burmese neighbors. Thank you for being loud about this, peace in my land, but extreme chaos right next door. Imagine if Canada was 10 year civil war, as American

This puts the Top Gear Burma/Myanmar special from a decade ago into better context when they mentioned the tension in the air while eating and drinking with local soldiers

This is hands down the most detailed video on Myanmar that I have found on YouTube, excellent job.
