Dude. Otyken has so much. If MTV were still a thing and Otyken were given western exposure I think they’d be the hottest band on Earth. Azyan the lead singer would be a gigantic pop star. And isn’t she absolutely gorgeous? The band had morphed and changed a lot in a decade. There are eight girls in the band today having just added a guitarist. In the beginning they were more a traditional Siberian folk band but have been moving more and more toward ethno-fusion, house music and even rap. No matter how much they change everything they do is good. Last November they released the song Alatau which may be their biggest hit. You should really check that one out. And imagine being in the yurt with them as they played it. Check out the girls. They are so bad ass, Siberian gangsta, and all smoking hot. The girl playing the mouth harp is Tsveta, the member of Otyken who’s been there longest. In the video she’s on the big “sofa” to the far right. The girl is seriously beautiful. To the far left is Hakaida, a drummer. Next is Kys, she plays multiple instruments and is the band’s “firecracker.” Then comes Hara. The three girls standing are Muna who provides the gangsta rap, then Azyan the lead singer, then cute little Achanay who sings and plays stringed instruments. Seated in back in headphones is Achity. He plays multiple instruments and throat sings. Since this video they’ve added Katana on electric guitar.
Most of their lyrics are in the Chulym language. As of 2021 there were only about 300 Chulyms left in the world and fewer than three dozen who speak the language. Otyken has a huge catalogue of hits. Former lead singer Taida was spectacular. Some must listen to songs:

Singing two notes at once is just wild and beautiful.

OMG...Otyken is amazing. First discovered them here on YouTube a year or two ago (?) with the song 'STORM' (definitely check it out) and totally binged their catalog. Such a vibe with the indigenous intruments and electro elements. Can't sit still when I hear them. Thanks to Gwen for the request and Sal for bringing the fun to my Thursday evening.

Andrey Medonos (Chernetsov), producer of the ethno group Otyken, is married to Aliona, one of the group's original vocalists. Role in the group: In the early stages, Aliona performed as a performer. Later, she focused on the project's visual style and became the lead costume designer and hand embroiderer for the artists. Current lead singer: The group's current lead vocalist is Azyan, who is not also a producer. The lead singers of Otyken are Dolgan, a small indigenous people of Siberia and the North. The producer and founder of the group is Russian, but he moved to the region and married a local woman. The Dolgans speak the Dolgan language, which belongs to the Turkic group of languages.

It's called Mongolian throat singing. Like a vocal digeridoo. Amazing to hear live. If you are standing close enough you can actually feel the vibrations from the voice. Much like The HU.
