This video dives into the "missing notes" of standard scales – the flattened 3rd, flattened 7th, major 6th, and 2nd/9th .
The idea is to bridge the gap between academic theory +and Jazz, and
to feel the emotion of each note.
What You'll Discover:
The Blues Arpeggio in Action: Learn this powerful, compact 4-note grouping that blends major and minor sounds, a true "yin and yang" of jazz.
The Soulful Major 6th: Explore this often-overlooked note that adds unique depth and harmony. Examples from legends like Joe Zawinul and Horace Silver and Michael Brecker highlight its beautiful + Soulful sound
The Major Blues Scale: this versatile 6-note scale is perfect for crafting funky lines and expressive improvisations over blues changes.
The 7-Note Soul Scale: Combine all these elements to create a rich, expressive scale containing essential jazz harmonies.
My name is Nick Homes. I am a non genius musician who struggled for many years to find out the secrets of jazz improvisation. Throughout 40 years of playing, and obsessive investigation I have focussed on building systems of learning for my students so they can improve , and reach their learning goals with the highest probability whilst having fun!
