We see so many brand new houses with so much electronics and technology and you see a house from the 50 and we realize that back then they lived in the present, they lived without all the technology distractions, they lived the real life. Thanks so much to show this house so we can remember what we forgot. ❤

I had the great privilege of touring this house....the Halekulani was able to set the tour up.  The house is insane, it is so customized and personalized.  The owner and architect worked on that kitchen, continuing to customize it, for 20 years.  It is unimaginable that an architect and owner would be so collaborative over such a long period of time today.

The over-sized daybed down stairs is called a pune'e in Hawaii.  My grandmother (tutu) had two in her sun porch, all us kids would sleep on it after lunch.

It reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright--simplicity masterfully done.

Her kitchen game was on point. She really thought about what she needed.

I did a TV commerical for Oceanic Cable at this amazing home. I felt like I was living in the 50's and our 30 second spot played off that theme. Every detail including the magazines on the coffee table were frozen in time. I believe you can still rent the home out for special events. Truely an awesome place.

This is one of the greatest homes in Hawaii, if not the world. It's a masterpiece. So well designed, the thinking that must have gone into every decision, the proportions and flow are truly outstanding, its positioning on the land with views over-looking Honolulu, Waikiki, Diamond Head. Just incredible. While this video is very good at showing the house, I urge everyone able to, to do a tour of this house to fully appreciate what has been achieved here by a brilliant architect / client collaboration. I did the home tour a few years ago, and ive never forgotten this home, it touched me, and i think of it often. I will surely revisit.

What an exceptional family to be able to commission an architect for a 5000 + sq ft home in 1952 on land in one of the most expensive cities in the "US" with an exceptional view.

This has me rethinking how I want to live.

10:50 the cute gecko on the window sill above the bead scurries down the left side of the cabinet he’s touching😂💕

That “bed” in the living room is a traditional Hawaiian punee, or lounge bed, which were quite common. Eucalyptus, while beautiful and fragrant, lose big branches in windstorms. I would probably selectively cut down the closer trees. I used to live in a eucalyptus and pine forest on Maui at approximately this elevation. This is a large and innovative house for the time. My cousins grew up on Oahu in the 50s. The early films brought back memories of how we lived back then, always playing or studying, so unlike today.

Such a beautiful and functional home- so much storage too.

Just saw the short, and I am literally obsessed. How I missed this beauty, I do not know, but it is every philosophy thrown into one perfect, beautiful, timeless piece of art. THIS is a house... This is love.

I had goosebumps all over my body and I’m so emotional right now because I born in 1959 in Brazil 🇧🇷 and I remember when children used to play outside with toys not with tablets or cell phones. This is the best house video ever. Thanks so much for taking the time to show this house and thanks so much for being so respectful and kind during the video, I love you guys ❤

You guys are so young and you show and talk about the house with so much respect, appreciation and love 💗 I love you guys ❤

The ratio of bars to bedrooms speaks to how the house was used

Very well presented indeed. As an architect practicing modern tropical architecture in Kerala, India, the Liljestrand House, as it is familiarly known, is indeed a reference case study in how to enjoy the climate of the humid tropics without extensive artificial ventilation and air con.
Keep them coming,
Cheers!

P.S Great videography as well ✌🏽

OSSIPOFF MASTERPIECE.....LEGENDARY

Oh my god the drawer can go flat🤤 this home is just sexy, i have no other words to describe it. I just love the innovation behind it and it gives me so much inspiration for my own designs❤

The house, the pool and the view and the story of the house, this is wow.😮😅❤
