Pavel Bure scored FIVE goals in one single game at the Nagano Olympics semifinals against Team Finland and carried pretty much single handedly Team Russia to the finals.
That's the greatest single achievement by any hockey player ever in the history of the sport.

Pavel was the last of the Soviet generation to play in the NHL. They were disciplined, hardened men. Majority of them impacted the NHL in one way or another. They truly love hockey! And that language is universal!
Was a privilege to watch him play on my TV as a kid. A privilege to study his play.

He scored my favorite goal of all time. That toe tap goal was just nasty! The speed of it! The creativity at the time when things were generic.

This guy will always be my favorite player of all-time. It seemed like he scored at every single game I attended. He definitely had us out of our seats on a regular basis, just electrifying.

Everyone is forgetting how slow and gritty that era was. He would be insane if he were playing in today's game, where speed is a premium.

his speed was incredible yes , but stick handling at that speed like no one ever before or after. Seriously he was the best break away player ever ! IMHO

You watch Bure highlights , he's doing it against Norris trophy winners draped all over him , the clutching and grabbing era. Seeing him live he really stood out , so much faster than most players and could handle the puck at that speed. If he got the jump on someone he was gone.

He's the reason I became a Canucks fan.

@mr.xblade 8 months ago

he was like Guy Lefleur... Every time he touched the puck the crowd would stand up in anticipation..

Anyone remember Bure-trick? 5goal game, that chap was another level.

Bure was the fastest player in the worlds fastest game until his knees went out and he had surgery over and over. Man he was so awesome. For a few years we had Bure and Cliff Ronning as his center. Bure 5'10 and Ronning 5' 9, and together they absolutely torched the league for goals. We also had Larionov who was Pavel's mentor on the team when he arrived and before he went to Detroit he made some magic happen with Pavel too.

Pavel was another reason to love that 75th season in the NHL, those divisions were great, the great players, the enforcers and the playoffs were the best

I was there when he played his first game in Vancouver vs. Winnipeg at the Colosseum and the crowd was excited when his name was announced he would play his first game... omg he was soooooo fast

Bure vs the Rangers is why i love hockey now. He was an incredibly fun player to watch. The Russian Rocket was a phenom.

I wasn’t at his first game against Winnipeg but was at the next game against LA when he scored his first two goals. I had never seen a player, and haven’t seen one since, that got everyone out of their seat when he picked up the puck. It was indescribable the atmosphere at that game.
