However, the majority of scholars agree, as supported by the hadith of Asma, one version of which states: "At the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when we were in Medina…" [Al-Bukhari, 5511], as well as the hadith of Jabir, which states: "On the day of Khaybar, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the meat of domestic donkeys and permitted the meat of horses." Al-Bukhari, 4219, and Muslim, 1941.
Jabir also narrated: "We traveled with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we ate horse meat and drank their milk." An-Nawawi classified the chain of this hadith as authentic.
