My First Time Motocamping, how did it go? How did the Transalp cope?

Welcome to Up North Biker! 🏍️💨

I took the plunge and went Motocamping for the first time. I haven't camped for over 35 years so this was going to be a test.

I went to a campsite in Bellingham on the Transalp called the Demesne Farm campsite which cost £12 for me and the bike. It has all the required facilities which were basic but adequate.

Find out how it all went and share like and subscribe if you like the video.

Join me as I explore the best scenic backroads, coastal routes, and hidden gems across North Yorkshire, Northumberland, the UK, and beyond into Europe.

Whether it's a sunny day trip along the Yorkshire coast, discovering biker-friendly cafés and rustic tea rooms, embarking on European motorcycle tours, or tackling bike maintenance and upgrades in the garage, this channel is all about the pure joy of life on two wheels.

Hi Gordon. I've stayed at Demesne a few times. Love it. Regarding the tents vestibule, if you buy a footprint for the tent, you will protect the base of your tent and have a cover for the vestibule. An extra advantage is that you will have a dry ground to roll up the tent. Enjoy your camping. See you around.

Bellingham is a lovely place. I sometimes take a ride down from Edinburgh for Tea on the Train, and some pease pudding out of the shop. Great roads down there.

I was in Bellingham on Saturday, loads of bikes parked outside the pub.

Good video of your introduction to motocamping Gordon. I too had my first similar experience earlier this year, found out exactly the same issues with the sleeping arrangements, it was like sleeping on an ice rink lol. A Scafell footprint is ideal, but you can buy generic groundsheets too if you cant find one (Go Outdoors do them) Bellingham is a great place to stop over for the night and has everything you need with pubs & shops, even a cracking little cafe so you don't have to cook breakfast in the rain. Glad to see the Transalp is doing the job, lovely bike and its on the potential list ... atb from Morpeth

Brilliant. Took me back about 46 years when I did my first "motocamp" in North Wales aged 17 on my Yamaha RD200 😁

You looked quite organized for your first time. I spent three years in Army and two years in the Air Force camping out and I'll admit to Not missing it but I enjoyed watching you.😁

Great video, thanks for sharing your camping experience, it's been a long time since I did any camping.
Great way of traveling the countryside, my new transalp is arriving next month 🤞. Unfortunately coming up to the wrong time of year for camping but I'm looking forward to going on some trips.
