It is such a gorgeous village, the stone Lion water trough, wow, incredible little square.
I always wish everyone had more money so they can do the things they love.
Amazing that the European thing, would give so much money to help restore this square, that is brilliant.
I love textiles, so your carpets are the jewel for me. The cane chairs could be the same design as Minoan times,
they really are spectacular. The whole antique thing only works for me if it is married well with the modern, each piece needs to really shine. You do a pretty good eclectic mix, I can see that your own home will be stunning, the amount of color is perfect for carrying the darker antiques. I am just imagining how some super colorful pottery or glass would look on the dark dresser, wow.
I wonder if you could put some oregano oil or peppermint on the Horses face, to keep the flies off.
I saw Kevin Richardson, slather his Lions with something to keep the flies off. Maybe Neet is it, would work.

In Greece antiques and craftmanship are indeed rarely treasured :( I could not read the whole inscription on your trunk, but it seems to have been a parcel to technical services of OTE (phone company) in Rhodes island. So basically they wrote the destination on the trunk :D Wondering how it has turned out in Crete 🤔

Hi, regarding your antique chest of draws sticking, perhaps the draw bottoms have become slightly warped over time.  Back in July of this year, I bought what I told, by the seller, was a late Victorian chest, which was really, badly beaten up.  The two drawers below, the main body of the chest, I managed to finally open, as the  bottom of both drawer’s were completely bowed over time.  What I did, was to wring out an old towel, to just being barely damp, and then I left two heavy antique irons (covered in cling foil) for two day’s, regularly checking on the wood, which seems to have done the trick… so perhaps you could also use this technique with your antique chest of drawer’s, which incidentally, I love the colour and the handles which you have chosen!

Regarding my renovation of this chest, it really has been a labour of love, as it was a birthday “activity present”,  which with using a lot of specialist wood cleaner, removing  the dead spider’s and decades of  grime, then using wood filler to build up the missing corner at the front of one of the drawers, together filling in the five panel’s, to the interior, which over time had moved apart, it had kept me busy!  Another thing which I used was IKEA mineral oil to feed the ancient wood, and later applied solid bees wax, both inside and out… hence, it took me almost 6 week’s on and off to complete it’s full restoration!

A few day’s ago, I curiously went online to find out, just when my “Victorian Chest” had been made, as I felt that part’s of the carcass were far older… It turn’s out that it is a GEORGIAN MULE CHEST, built around 1770, made even before the American War of Independence, and the French Revolution!  🤩

I am well chuffed, being an ex-Pat now living in Europe, now owning such a treasured historic piece of history!

The price paid, for this sad looking chest was only 200.00 Euro’s… but the hours of fun, and buying specialist product’s, in order to restore this historic piece, one cannot put a price upon! 😍

I look forward to seeing further of your antique treasures, as well as those that you have “upcycled”, like the press in your kitchen, and the fabulous colour chosen together with the quirky  knob’s which you found for it!
