In this video, Mike Granato & Shaun Webb from Athletic Motion Golf wrap up their checkpoint series with the exit: getting from impact into the finish. It's one of the most misdiagnosed parts of the swing, and what the pro does here surprises a lot of golfers. In 3D, the shaft doesn't stay out in front of the body after impact. It swivels back up the swing plane, with the face turning over instead of being held square.
They show the move most golfers try to copy (the alignment stick drill, where the stick would cut you in half if you did it as taught), why they call it one of the worst drills they know, and why it doesn't fix a hook and can make one worse. Mike also shares how he got out of that pattern, including his feel for shaft lean at impact, the trail hand throwing drill, and the split hand drill.
If you've been told your follow through looks "wrong," compare it to what the data actually shows.
Let us know in the comments if you've done the alignment stick drill.
