Program Overview
"+RONTEN 2026" features interesting authors and topics from the currently available "Bungeishunju Opinion: 100 Issues for 2026." This time, we invited non-fiction writer Hironori Jinno as our guest to discuss the topic, "Preparing for the Risk of a Double Collapse in the Nursing Care Industry in 2026."
In April of this year, then-Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, Sukemaro Fukuoka, stated in a press conference that there were 100 municipalities across the country without home care facilities, highlighting the serious shortage of nursing care workers. Jinno points out that, given this situation, a "double collapse of the nursing care industry" could occur in the future.
Inspired by his own experience as a caregiver, Jinno began his reporting on this topic, discussing the current challenges facing Japan's nursing care industry and his outlook for the future.
