I used to think being kind, honest, and being disciplined would earn me respect. Turns out… I was the only one in the meeting not lying — and the first to get fired.

That is what broke me.  People are just nasty selfish and cruel.  I will never become one of them.

The strength you need to have to walk this path is immense.

Doing and being good in a broken world creates an inner pain that I cannot get rid of.
I feel like I just want to buy a camper van and just get away from all the bs.
I only feel peace when I am not around people.

I am sick and tired of living in this disgusting, miserable, nasty and broken world.

I’m soooooo tired of existing here

"To be an angel surrounded by demons, thats like suicide " -tupac

The thing that gets me is how many people give up and say "that's just how it is" instead of "It doesn't HAVE to be. Even if I cannot change it, I can do small things in my circle of people, and believe in a better world."

Every time you accept people's shit....the further away you get from your authentic self....

This is literally me. I tell myself: “That guy took advantage of my kindness, but I won’t quit being kind, being honest, because that’s the right thing to do”, and then I got taken advantage again. But what am I to do? Become a dog like the rest of them? Or remain as I am and get stepped on? If I choose to not be myself, then I get respect. If I choose to be myself, then I get taken for granted. Sometimes I wish I just didn’t exist in this stupid world.

Because you're too available for those who don't even deserve a minute of your silence. I felt that in my soul.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

I'm fine with not being a piece of the puzzle that doesn't fit.  Peace of mind is priceless and those who play games and set traps end up with stupid prizes or caught up in a trap themselves💯

When the guy whom I considered to be my brother betrayed me in the worst way possible, something snapped. I suddenly started thinking with my head and ignoring my heart.

I believe the key is to be as "good" to ourselves as we are to others.  So many times we ignore our well being and exclusively focus out. This is not sustainable and is a recipe for burn out.

"The most common lie is that which one lies to himself."

Kind, but not harmless.

The hardest part about holding onto real integrity isn’t the loneliness, it’s realizing how much of what passes for “goodness” is just disguised fear, resentment, or social currency. Niche saw it with brutal clarity—most people who call you naïve for refusing to play the game aren’t stronger, they’re just more practiced at self-betrayal.

There’s a cost to standing alone, but there’s a bigger cost to pretending mediocrity is a virtue. I’d rather risk being called inflexible than become one more “nice” person quietly resentful of anyone who refuses to shrink themselves. Curious if others here have noticed: does it ever get easier to keep your own code, or does the pressure just get more subtle as you get older?
