Former mouldmaker (R&D) here. This is normal progress. Gratulation for your bravery and stand!❤

Beautiful work brother. I am an old retired machinist who sailed solo for 15 years. I have commented before but I am still very impressed by your dedication. I made so many parts for my boat, motorcycles, etc. Being able to manufacture your own thoughts is a blessing. I wish you the best.

The honesty you've shown with this video is admirable. Often times people present their projects in a way that obfuscates the obstacles that they ran into while creating them.

Dude so stoked your still at it. We just returned from sea and I placed an order for a stack of your blocks. Thanks for supporting the cruiser community.

Thank you so much for the kind words 😊 you are absolutely right, having the tools to make our own stuff is absolutely amazing 🤩 cheers mate and fair winds 💪

Yes yes yes. Blocks are so very in need of shaking up like this.

you can put a few grooves on the OD of the aluminum to allow grit to escape. kind of like a tap flute.

respect for showing things going unexpectedly! resolving problems is more important than things working as designed

I am not a sailor by any definition, but I really love what you are doing. There are so few people nowadays who think of the community first. You not only created a superior, no nonsense product as a project, you also made the files free for anyone to use, and ALSO went to the trouble of figuring out a production process for all of us who don't have access to machining tools.
Kudos to you, I honestly have nothing but respect!

With more people like you our world can be a better place, fair winds be with you always.

With the sand test, it looked like the issue was made worse by the embossed text creating pockets for the sand to accumulate. Given that the text isn’t visible when assembled, it seems like it would be better (although admittedly less cool) to just not have the text.

Sand is sand, and sometimes there's no one right solution. But some beaches are pink coral sand, many are quartz glacial sand, then there's "sugar sand" that manages to follow you home, or the dusty fine sand from loess soils. That even gets into your socks and briefs. All very different sands, so you may want to dive into that rabbit hole and optimize your tolerances.

Overcoming the pressure like you did reminds me of the quote, "Pressure is a privilege." Thanks for doing what you're doing and well done overcoming and being a man of your word.

Brilliant!
Keep it up.
Build the “Entropy” brand
“Elegant solutions that thrive in chaotic environments”
-“When endurance is the answer”

Crowd source your products list

Use partners to make the product, but carefully check everything

AND - build a life as the chief product tester

Build the type of products that the Alaskan fisherman start buying
Become the brand for people who only want to buy it once.

You won’t get the Gucci bleeding-edge racing crowd, but if you become the expedition brand you can probably create a pretty decent company.

This is a good example of racing technology pitted against cruising technology.

Racing technology performs better, but needs far more maintenance. And if let go, it deteriorates quickly.

absolutely shred those blocks, you're the man. I love the honesty you maintain about the emotions during your journey, Keep up all the great work!

I just got mine. Five. And man, they are freakin’ beautiful and freakin’ great. Thanx! Ten out of ten.

You are a legend mate, the product speaks for its self, love your work mate

Don't get discouraged every time you make a mistake! When you do things yourself, that's how it goes. And when you try to do things faster by cutting corners, you always end up with a more complicated path.

It'd be interesting to see an endurance test - a block and a motor under tension constantly spinning back and forth. You could get spicy with seawater or sand tests as well.
