Great pod guys

First time viewer / listener. I'll definitely be back!

This guy seems incredibly intelligent and could probably print money in any field he steps into

All in on GME

Thanks for what you do! I listen to a lot of podcasts in general, and numerous poker podcasts.

The ingredients for this have already made it a must listen for me!

I'm so stoked to be able to listen to this on a regular basis

Thank you!

Would love to see Andrew Robl on here.

Love the show guys.. you guys should wear headphones maybe you’ll be less likely to talk over eachother so often

A few things:

1.. He says Illya and his dad were not bookies.  Wasn’t it common knowledge in the poker world that Illya and his dad were big time bookies? Illya’s dad was operating out of Trump Tower and there were ties to Russian mob.

2.  He says that what Paul Phua was doing at Caesar’s was not illegal.  But it was illegal because he was taking massive  bets on World Cup bets that summer.  He was released on a procedural matter as they discussed, but the actual charges against him were very strong.

3.  Laak says the Paul Phua case “changed the law” in Nevada. Not really, it was already the law.  The judge’s ruling just confirmed what the law is concerning evidence gathered using these type of tactics by the Feds.  The judge definitely made the correct ruling, it’s just rare that the government loses.

4.  The guest said that the Billy Walters case was bullshit.  Actually the case against Billy was extremely strong.  Almost everything that the key witness said against Billy was corroborated by the evidence. It was overwhelmingly one sided against Billy and he chose not to testify in his own defense.  His book never addresses all of the evidence against him and simply trashes the witness and the Feds.

So not sure if the guest was looking to protect his friends or if he was just not fully informed, or a combo of both.
Either way, love Laak and Rast and looking forward to more great episodes.

Less interrupting the guest, Laak

Great episode!  I think Matt Levine has a good take on insider trading where its more about abusing a fiduciary responsibility or theft rather than a market fairness trait  "Well! Insider trading, I like to say around here, is not about fairness; it’s about theft. It is generally legal, in the US, to trade on information that no one else has. What is illegal is misusing someone else’s information. A chief executive officer who trades on inside information about her own stock is misappropriating that information from her shareholders3; a therapist who trades on what the CEO tells him in a therapy session is misappropriating that information from his patient. But if Warren Buffett knows that his purchases of a stock will move the stock up, he is allowed to buy the stock without first disclosing his plans to buy it: Trading on your own secret information is fine. (Not legal advice!)"(quote from a matt levine column)

You guys love your drugs

Let the guy talk and finish a thought before hitting him with another question please
