Secret Agent Barbie, aka Mattel Gear Solid.

20:33 imagine someone secretly spraying perfume on you five seconds after you had a nice conversation with them, that's gotta hurt the ego

your bob is so so so fierce and unwavering

making her voice echo in the cave is so funny, like they really went the extra mile to emphasise that the loudness of secret agent barbie's conversation with Becky is diegetic

"Who's up there?!"

"I'm Barbie! 😃 💅"

I feel my problems must stem from not having the appropriate outfits for my activities. Barbie is teaching us real solutions

31:04 having africa and egypt in different categories is so funny, "should barbie go to america or new york? 😍"

It's crazy how much inspiration Secret Agent Barbie takes from Metal Gear Solid while simultaneously inspiring Kojima to add changing outfits in MGS3 three years later

As someone who was a child when this came out and is also a wheelchair user, I find it genuinely super impressive that Barbie secret agent has a character in a wheelchair…. Like never mind at the time, most games now don’t have any disabled representation. Legit very nice to see!

Not that anyone asked, or really expected accuracy, but I just wanted to point out that all the bird calls you can hear in the "Tibet" portion of Barbie Explorer, are very much North American birds. If you listen closely you can hear a red-bellied woodpecker, a belted kingfisher and even a god-damn bald eagle.

0:30 WARNING: You can be anything

6:58 barbie secret agent walked so infinity nikki could run. homegirl has to change outfits every two seconds for the most mundane tasks 😭

As a Brazilian, the way they depicted Rio (Spanish surnames and accents - we speak Portuguese in Brazil - and weird-ass house architecture that looks nothing like anything you'd see in Rio) was physically painful to watch :')

that camera angle when an anime character goes insane

6:50 I vividly remember my first rage quit over this jump

Looks like the black in the textures got turned transparent. Normally black is transparent on Alpha maps (old school way to do transparency in textures), so I guess the normal textures somehow got used as alpha maps when you played. Seems like a really strange bug. Maybe it's because of the modern hardware?

I appreciate you, Mem, for writing the closed captions and it not just being done by YouTube AI

the concept of Barbie ascending Mount Everest guided by the frozen bodies of the mountain climber Barbies before her

Fun trick about Secret Agent Barbie! In the opening section in NY when you have to sneak into the building…you don’t even have to face the guard. There’s actually an entrance through the back that you’re totally able to just walk through with no problems at all! And by entering this way, you’re ALSO able to bypass the guard that’s inside as well! I remember finding this when I was a kid (probably like 6?) and it blew my mind, lol.

Another fun fact: if you save the Paris mission for second, the party is over and the lights are off, once again allowing you to just freely sneak around as you please! The guards ARE still around out in the garden area though, so you still have to sneak past them.
