🔬Once again, the ONE TIME I don't overanalyze like crazy, it's one of the most discussed things in the comments. NOTED, overanalyzing levels will be turned back up. LET'S YAP ABOUT GUS (does he have kids, the Jesse dinner, Better Call Saul etc):


1. Walt is obviously completely unaware of Gus' sexuality or family status. He sees children's toys; he assumes he has children. Not much more to add there.

2. This is one of those times where I think Better Call Saul retconned a few things about Gus (or at least crystallized ideas that were never fully ironed out). The house was originally supposed to have pictures of Gus' (Giancarlo Esposito's) children, but weren't included. To me, that seems to imply that the original plan was for him to actually have children and it was changed to rather seem much more ambiguous (hence this convo even existing).

3. Being gay doesn't mean he couldn't have kids. He could've adopted, could've had a quasi-fake side-relationship to keep up appearances or whatever else crazy drug lord plan you can imagine. Like, this is Gus we're talking about lol, for all we know, he has 12 different fake families in 6 different countries.

4. When Jesse later goes to have dinner at Gus', we don't see children's toys - but in a sample pool of 2, I wouldn't call either visit definitive proof of truth. Like I said in the video, Gus' behavior ABSOLUTELY seems like he's trying to serve the kids' story on a silver platter, but in Breaking Bad itself, I think the story deliberately keeps everything about Gus shrouded in layers of ambiguity.

This was the moment Gustavo Fring was harassed for not cooking up to Pollos standards in his own private domicile.

29:21 to answer this question, they originally intended on Gus' kids being real, as the script mentions making sure not to show any family photos too closely (they were of Giancarlo's real kids) so that they could potentially cast them for real in the future. But then they went in a different direction with Gus' character to not give him kids, which meant that "Gus was faking it for Walt" ends up just being a convienient retcon explanation.

Worth noting that when Jesse has this same dinner in a later episode, the toys are gone lol

If you put spaghetti in a pot whole, it loses it's rigidity so it falls in. Breaking it is sacrilegious, it doesn't take that long to soften.
