Strictly speaking, the copla cannot be said to be flamenco. However, both genres share turns, melodic gestures and harmonic progressions and it wasn’t uncommon for artists to leap from one to another. Carles Trepat passes López-Quiroga, Mostazo, Esquembre and Barrios through the flamenco sieve to come up with guitar versions of well-known coplas.

Wow. What a clean player. I can't belive I just found this fantastic player. HE might be my favorite due to his clean, very emotional playing that is so controlled yet amazingly emotional.

This is absolutely stunning performance! What makes it very different from others is a depth of playing, sense of time, overall culture. I felt immersed in Carles playing and trapped by sounds of his guitar, lost in time and space!

If you listen closely, you can hear the art of his breathwork along with each transitional note.

Hay algo evidente, el maestro Trepat dice y hace cosas diferentes con su guitarra. Eso es un mérito del que muy pocos pueden vanagloriarse.

It's a beautiful rediscovery of the sound of the guitar, in the days when it was plucked with the fingertips, not the nails. A unique and mellow sound, more intimate and contemplative than the fingernail pluckers.

Nunca pienso en estos términos, lo juro, pero si hubiera que hacerlo, diría que el maestro Trepat es mi guitarrista favorito.
Yo toco la guitarra, aunque nada que se acerque a esta calidad ni siquiera de lejos, nada más me amenizo el momento y es todo. Solo lo menciono para decir que su guitarra me recuerda al sueño originario. Toca como "se debe", con preciosa sobriedad y no hay nota que salga vacía.

Carles Trepat plays with such sensitivity and feeling. His phrasing and tone production are superb. The overall effect of his playing is captivating. There can be little doubt that he is one the greatest players today. His music charms me more than any other.

Magical. Carles plays with so much soul and emotion like nobody else and his technique is exquisite.
If there is example of the player and the guitar being one and the same, this would be it. He is the best.
