I'm playing a warpriest wrestler and it is SO MUCH FUN. My warpriest was originally a purposeful study in mediocrity, building a character that could do lots of stuff but none of it particularly well. Then I added Wrestler. Now I'm a mediocre caster, a mediocre fighter and one hell of a wrestler. Can't wait till I start throwing people around next level.

I'm gonna start calling my coworkers "complexity adverse!"

Wrestler party comps in Dawnsbury Days are some of my favorites to throw together. Such a fun playstyle.

Wrestler works with so many builds.  I played a monk wrestler.  Monk action economy makes fitting maneuvers into your mix very easy - especially when you get flurry of maneuvers.
Zipping into the back line to grapple a caster often means you restrain them.  A number of casters simply don't have a good response to this.  Then the enemy frontline has to choose between helping the caster and attacking your frontline.

The Grapple-Based Community is SOOOO back!!

10:33 this train of thought right here is why I love maneuvers so much. I've played athletics focused guardian, swashbuckler, and summoner and they all feel so satisfying to play. Love how much goes into each turn

You are spot on with your last point. I learned Pathfinder relatively recently (almost a year ago) and started with a Warpriest in an Abomination Vaults game with some friends. I was having a good time learning but the class didn't really speak to me until I came across your Warpriest Wrestler video. My character went from "fine" to team MVP, using grapples and trips to set up my friends Barbarian, Monk and Thaumaturges to all do tons of damage. We are still slowly working through that game but scheduling has been tricky, so I ended up starting a couple of other campaigns, where my love of grappling that I learned here has informed nearly all of the characters I made.

My current favorite is my shovemaxing Animist, even though he isn't strictly a Wrestler. I took Guardian archetype for Punishing Shove and the Starfinder Dwarf (or Centaur) ancestry feat that auto upgrades successful shoves to critical successes. This let me "attack" with my Athletics, that thanks to you, I learned scales much faster than my caster weapon proficiency. I took Mauler archetype later to have access to the "reactive shove" reaction with a reach weapon (Bec de Corbin). This has let me waste so many enemy actions. I can crit shove an enemy from 10 feet away up to another 10 feet back. If they try to stride back to melee range, I can reactive shove them back another 10 feet and disrupt the rest of the movement action. I can combine this with the Animist feat (Roaring Heart) that lets me Stride twice, Shove twice and give out AoE temp HP to my party for two actions, and use the other action to cast or sustain one of my excellent focus spells. Although I'm primarily doing shoving, I can still situationally drop a hand off of my polearm and trip/grapple an enemy as needed. I'm not sure the GM is having as much fun as I am, but I think that means the build is working as intended.

The new Hellfire Dispatches have two dedications that I'm really interested to try at some point. Sister of the Golden Erinys can make the Asp Coil into a Monk weapon and has a level 8 feat that lets you grapple after a strike (such as from reach with an Asp Coil). The Order of the Chain Hellknight has a really strong level 8 action that is a Strike plus no MAP grapple that auto-upgrades to a crit success if you succeed on the grapple. Auto-restrained seems insanely good. This is mostly dedicated to flail or spiked chain users so you are kind of limited on free-hand stuff, but I'm sure there's something strong that could be made with either of these.

love wrestler. building an armor inventor rn to try and use electrify armor while grappling people. I also just love building unconventional stuff that feels taped together but weirdly works.

"Why Wrestler" indeed. 🤔

1st off, love the video and love wrestler.

2nd off you mentioned wrestler on a caster. I would like to raise you a far far spicier answer: investigator archtype. At level 6 (or level 4 if you want to spend a class feat in free archtype) you can grab divise a strategem and athletics strategem. This lets you use athletics maneuvers for your divise a strategem. Little known fact about divise a strategem: if you don't like your roll and choose to use a skill strategem, you are only excluded from STRIKING the target, not using athletics maneuvers. You can divise a strategem, see a bad roll, choose a skill strategem instead, and then just grapple the target anyways with a new roll.

If you have to DAS as an action this is effectively at will sure strike light on your athletics maneuvers (look at one die and chose to reroll is a bit weaker than roll 2 and keep highest but it's close). If they are relevant to your leads then essentially you just get a free hero point on athletics maneuvers every single turn!!!!

The follow up feats are also great. Skill expert is fantastic along with perception mastery. Alternatively, you can just leave into another archtype since you've already grabbed your 3 feats.

Highly highly recommend investigator on caster athletics users.

Currently building a Soldier Wrestler in starfinder, going for being the midrange tank who can grab anything coming close to my squishies and hurling it away. That or, as a dragonkin (being Large) using my Reach (with a Combat Grapnel in my arm) grabbing someone at 10 ft range and doing basically a hulk smash as i hold them by the ankle and smash them into the floor repeatedly (on alternating sides) with Whirling Throw.

A few notes. One, get ghost touch on your handwraps (and later astral) so you can grab incorporeal stuff too. Second, on the flurry ranger point, whirling throw has map now. If you have two enemies by you and you're a ranger, grab/trip the one that you aren't currently then yeet the other one across the room. Let them spend their turn getting up and coming back to the fight.
As kind of mentioned, one nice thing about wrestler you can bolt it onto basically any class in the game and have it work, speaking as someone who has basically done that for every class. Main thing that varies is the ratio of class to archetype feats you get.
Submission Hold and Spinebreaker aren't the same lvl and serve different purposes (one for str enemies one for dex or lowering ac) so having both isn't that bad an idea. Also Spinebreaker is at the same level as the glory that is Aerial Piledriver.

Seven word comment. YouTube algorithm rules. Visibility.

I did a max athletics psychic with heavy armor once. I don't think it was a super good build, but it was fun, yup.

Excellent. Thank you. I have been playing an Exemplar Wrestler for over a year now. Its so much fun and OMG does it sometimes break my GM's fights. Thanks for all of your videos. They are extremely helpful.

I've been trying to build a guardian wrestler, but the guardian feats feel too good to give up and we don't play free archetype D;

Last time ya played a wrester he had terrible luck earlier in the game. Then he started getting wishes and becoming a god. Was really funny to watch him utterly destroy the big bad was way too funny. Also soul bag soul bag soul bag-

I've played a monk wrestler and it was so much fun. I still think Medic is the best archetype.

we love throwing wrestler onto a single element fire kineticist, melee kinetic blast and combat grab at level 5 with thermal nimbus and the aura junction. the longer we keep the target grabbed, the more static damage they take along with the utility fur the party to hit easier :3

I want to make a Tiny Sprite Monk/Wrestler. Her entire gimmick, is to be Suplex by a Tiny Creature.
