The silicone\ mineral spirits is perfect for waterproofing tents, tarps, backpacks, boots, clothes, hats. It would also work really well for sealing a substrait like MDF board after you painted a sign so it doesn't get water logged and bow or swell up. I've never seen someone add paint to it. I'd imagine you'd need a whole lot of 1shot for the amount of thinner you have to use to get any kind of real pigment.

Oh, that’s waterproof. That’s cool.

I do silicone roofing for a living and this stuff is pretty incredible.

Your timing is on point. I've been searching for a waterproofing idea for a canopy and Viola! Here you are with it.

I think you have used the wrong silicone. Check your tube. There's two types of silicone, neutral curing and acetic curing. The acetic one smells like vinegar once it starts to cure, and it is fundamentally different from the neutral curing type. Check your tube and try again with some of whatever the OTHER is.

I just learned this myself last week when I wanted to make my own DIY Sugru / Oogoo. It's a quick set moldable rubber kinda thing made by mixing food coloring, cornstarch and 100% acetic curing silicone. Sets in like 10 minutes and you can mold it into literally any shape, stick it to walls, use it to repair things, fill holes in broken plastic items where bits of the plastic got lost, so many things!  But, it ONLY works with the acetic curing one and it also MUST be 100% silicone only.

Hope this helps somehow!

I used silicone and alcohol dye to make a makeshift  rubber end on my walking staff. It's held up remarkably well.

Pro tip. Use electrical tape to close off the ends of caulk tubes, painters tape, ect lets air in and dries the caulk, electrical tape stops the air and keeps it soft for much much longer.

If it's been said already, my bad. But it's not a bad spray bottle. Turn the nozzle to adjust the spray pattern

You have to use silicon OIL for the paint to mix with it.

Wow!! LOVE watching you!

The pigments in the enamel paint are particles, so they can clog orifices.  A dye would be better if you want color.

You know you can twist the tips on spray bottles.  To get the misty spray to stream

I did this (kinda!) - I waterproofed a rucksack by spreading bathroom sealant over it. Yes it looked weird. But it worked - the goop is ultra flexible. But you can get waterproofing spray so you should just use that not the thick sealant, saves a step... and maybe avoids creating some demonic toxic/explosive/acid gas by mistake!

That video with the kid left me in shock and severe sympathy pain!!! Thanks for that! 😂

This is a smart hack for basement storage for all of those who lost things in floods. If their boxes would have floated- even for a short while- belongings could have been moved or elevated. I'm in Florida and I will definitely be trying this on boxes in our garage!

I love how you try all this crazy stuff. The Mythbusters of spray paint! FYI, if you drop the tube of silicon in a bucket of hot water for a while, it'll come out as smooth as butter. Dad taught me that when I had to caulk some old windows.

If your turn the knob on the end of the spray bottle will adjust the spray from jet to more of a fan or mist spray....

It's great to learn new paint tricks, now if I can just remember this in the future!

Absolutely enjoy this video. You made me laugh and I needed that great tips. Love what you doing 👍🏼👍🏼😊

I am definitely going to try this on our outdoor furniture covers!! Wish me luck 😂
