Here to say Tomer was smashed by Cartographer’s Hawk on Shuffle Up.

Never forget.

Saying anguished unmaking is worse than generous gift is a wild take with all of the ways to make things indestructible floating around now. Yes, it can't blow up problematic lands. However, 9 times out of 10, the thing you need to deal with isn't a land.

Find you someone who looks at you the opposite way Seth looks at Herald's Horn

“Doubling Season, Elesh Norn, and Thousand Year Storm are bad because people know how good they are.” - Richard 2.0

Correction on doubling season:

When the planeswalker enters the battlefield, it gets twice the amount of loyalty counters.

When you activate the loyalty ability of a planeswalker it’s a cost, not an effect, to place a loyalty counter, therefore you do not double the amount of counters placed.

"My interaction for The One Ring is to complain about it" is the most Commander take ever.

Seth picked this topic to roast herald’s horn after last weeks clash episode

Solemn Simulacrum may have been relegated from super-staple to only played in synergy, but Burnished Hart has simply gone. Even in non-green landfall decks it's a conditional inclusion, only really seeing play in the extremely niche mono-red and -blue landfall decks.

When it becomes “there’s technically a better newer version” but I like my original and it looks cool!! I think it also makes games more fun to not be as optimized even if one out of five times it backfires

Once again commander clash podcast has turned into max greed take out targeted removal spells 😂

I agree with Tomer on Doubling Season. Not just because “it’s so good it’s bad” because that’s a bad reason on its own, but also because I’d rather use the higher end of my curve for more immediately impactful stuff, or at least if it’s not immediately impactful, I don’t want it to be a big target that the table has a whole turn to deal with.

And honestly, it's not always as good as it looks, outside of planeswalker decks. Sometimes you play it and next turn make 6 tokens instead of 3, which is pretty mediocre. But your opponents have to assume the worst every time.

Just too many cases where it doesn't pay off for my tastes.

I agree about Doubling Season. Tomer is not alone!

With doubling season another thing worth considering that there are cards that do parts of what it does but are cheaper mana wise. And it most decks you only really care about part of it's effects. If you're playing tokens then [[Parallel Lives]] is cheaper, if you're doing +1/+1 counters there's Branching Evolution and even Hardened Scales. It takes a pretty specific deck (either caring about some weird counters or caring about both counters and tokens) for doubling season to be the best option.

I like now that Phil is a full-time anchor on the pod that we get to hear from him more. I really like his reasoning and what he has to say.

I’m relieved that farewell will continue to be mentioned every episode even with Richard gone

One thing y'all have to keep in mind is that EDHREC is somewhat parasitic. They're still using deck lists from years and years ago to determine what cards are played and when new players build new decks they sometimes refer to EDHREC for card recommendations, which of course recommends them the cards already in their database as the most played, thus creating a cycle. It's why you don't see a lot of new cards, even if they're very good, making into the EDHREC staples and lists.

as an orzhov mage anguished unmaking comes in every time. it is so solid. never disappointed. i also play vindicate.

You guys should do a Backgrounds episode where you write DnD characters and then try to role play then out through the entire match

Herald's Horn is AMAZING in low to the ground typal aggro decks where you are casting multiple creatures in a turn, but those decks also want like 50 creatures so you're also even more likely to hit the card draw mode. Buidling a deck for Herald's horn is like building a deck for Collected Company in 60 card formats. Seth was definitely playing it in the wrong type of deck on Commander Clash.
