London born and bred for 32 years, moved up to my family/spiritual home Roker Sunderland 20 years ago. I wouldn’t move back to London if you paid me. Everywhere in the country has it’s run down areas such as Hendon, but on the whole this beautiful coastal city has a LOT to offer. The people, the coastline, etc. If i’d have known you were up mate i’d have been more than happy to show you around some of our better locations. Theres a masaive amount of regeneration going on along the riverside as well as along the coast, things are definitely changing for the better. Great vid as always mate, safe travels. 🇵🇪
I lived in Sunderland, mind you not Hendon, for 10 years after moving up from deep down south. While it can be rough around the edges, I never truly understood the meaning of community until I moved there. I am not White British, but if you show respect and kindness, there is nowhere safer on the planet. The people there should be proud, many of them do not realise just how good they have it.
it is odd the government wants to build over a million houses when every city and town is full of these areas, why consider green belt land when we have thousands of acres of slums and derelict areas.
Hendon was one of those areas that was not only neglected, but was where a large number of criminals were housed, which just makes things worse. Pennywell used to be the same, but the most the criminals got moved on, they pulled most of it down and rebuilt, now it's unrecognisable from 20 years ago, and it's similar to what Hendon needs
