What if I fucked around and never finished this series

"The New Republic was complacent"

In Star Wars, there are only 3 types of government: Ineffectual Corrupt Bureaucracy, Fascist Dictatorship, and Mafia Syndicate.

Knowing the backstory of the mystery box makes me want to break into JJ's home, strap him to a chair and slowly open the box in front of him

- What's your name?
- Rey.
- Rey "what"? Who are your people?
- I don't have people. I'm alone.
- I see. Rey... Solo.

“The force awakens woke me up 2 minutes before my alarm”

“The Force Awakens pointed behind me and stole my watch"

Their very first moves, right out the gate, were to:
1. Cancel the Clone Wars
2. Cancel 1313
3. Shut down Lucas Arts
4. Give EA (EA!?!?) a 10 year exclusive contract to produce Star Wars games
5. Decanonize the expanded universe
6. Start producing a trilogy without planning it out first
7. Commit to releasing 1 film per year

Every single move, was the worst possible move. What utter nonsense.

>smuggler, a profession about smuggling things discreetly from the authority

> one of the most famous heroes in the galaxy, paired with another renowned Wookiee hero, on the ship that's become a legend that some girl who lived her entire life on the desert planet knows about them

>a smuggler inside the very Republic he helped to form

All i got from the ted talks is jj abrams has a gambling addiction

1:09:00 Adam Driver has gone on to say that JJ thought that Kylo Ren would turn out to be the opposite of Vader; he starts out weak and undecisive and ends up becoming an even bigger monster than the Emperor. And Emperor Palpatine’s legacy would be a Kaiser Wilhelm sized footnote in the legacy of Kylo Ren’s Adolf Hitler. I seriously think Adam Driver would have cooked with that concept in Episode 9.

For some watching the trailer of The Force Awakens now is like watching a wedding video after you had a divorce.

Rey and Finn have so MUCH GODDAMNED POTENTIAL as characters and its all wasted. I cannot tell you how many times my buddies and I have just casually hashed out how the rest of the sequel trilogy could have gone if handled well and its laughable how easy it would have been to make the both of them extremely compelling and interesting characters. Same goes for Kylo.

"Good, Sheev, good. Review it. Tear it to pieces now."

"I shouldn't..."

"DO IT!"

I never realized just how Cooked the foundation of the sequels truly was

The canon storypoint that the war ended a year post Endor was such a gigantic mistake.

I remember being wrapped up in hype and joy during the TFA days.

Only to go to bed one day after seeing for the 5th time, and going “hold up this movie is actually shit”

Han is not only a smuggler again. He is a bad smuggler, who also managed to loose his most prized possession, The Millennium Falcon. He is just a dead beat dad who ran away

Kind of sad when you realize that the only reason Finn was made to be an Ex-Stormtrooper was to explain how the resistance would be able to find and defeat the super weapon.  Nothing else, no other nuance.  Not to test himself, not to test the audience, not for empathy or integrity or altering the decisions made.  Just so they could sneak on the base and give important information about the villains.

Snoke: "The droid we seek is aboard the Millennium Falcon..."
Me: "Oh, so Kylo knows it, then maybe he really is--"
Snoke: "...In the hands of your father..."
Me: "Oh welp, so he really is Han's--"
Snoke: "...Han Solo"
Me: "YES MOVIE, I GOT IT OKAY?"

JJ didn't put even 1% of the thought in this video into TFA, he thought, copy Originals, nostalgia-bait, throw random mysteries in the air for shock value, with no plan, scratch his arse and walk away with a check

To understand The Force Awakens, all you need to know is that they had characters played by Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhain. Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhain are Rama and Mad Dog from The Raid 1 and Rama and Prakoso from The Raid 2 (Yayan's character died in the first one so they gave him a new character in the second one). They were lead actors, choreographers, and stuntmen, all at the same time, in two of the greatest martial arts movies ever made. Words cannot express how much of an "I win" button these two are. In a Star Wars movie, where people use swords and knives and more exotic melee weapons, bringing these two on-board basically gives you a free great action scene. Pretty much the only way to not have them elevate the movie's fighting is to have them instantly get eaten by a CGI squid monster or some shit.

Anyways, these two play the leaders of the space pirates who board Han's ship and get eaten by a CGI squid monster within a minute of their first appearance.
Never has so much potential been so efficiently squandered as in The Force Awakens.
