Since you mentioned Vivi, polite reminder that Gavin Verhey admitted in his video on Vivi and Obzedat that he and the play test team knew the card was OP alongside Agatha’s Soul Cauldron, that they made a balanced version, that they could have swapped the OP version for the balanced version, and that they chose to keep the OP version to boost set sales.

That was not a design mistake. It was an intentional marketing decision.

The sheer flood of cardboard pouring into standard every year from 6-7 sets is going to make huge ban lists a requirement. If they trimmed the sets per year down, even by 1, l things would be *better*. I'd love to go back to 4, but 5 wouldn't be bad!

I come here for the Microcenter ads but stay for the Magic content.

I forgot which channel I'm on -- when I heard "but first, a word from our sponsor" I instinctively skipped ahead... only to see a one-eyed professor in a gold outfit arguing with stock brokers. Yeah, yeah, I'll rewind. 😂❤

Earthbending having no downside was a design mistake. Badgermole Cub is just the strongest enabler of it.

To also note, while there may still be 7 cards banned in Standard if we were on the old rotation, it's possible some of those may not need the ban as there aren't older cards that are enabling them.

I played the set before watching the show. When I saw gran Gran on screen for the first time all of a sudden I was rooting for the fire nation to hit her with a bazooka

This MicroCenter ad was the absolute best one yet.

I put together my first ever paper standard deck during edge of eternities because I opened an Ouroboroid and Frenzied Baloth and thought they were cool. When Badgermole Cub came out I realized I would just be playing a worse version of my deck if I didn’t buy a play set. Instead of doing that I sold the Ouroboroids which were spiking and bought a play set of Force of Wills and started building a Legacy deck. I figured that will be a better long term decision.

well, bans is now the rotation in a sense.

The big problem for the affordability in addition to the cost of the sealed product… is that they’re just pushing mythic so damn hard. Mythic are now the must plays, instead of the splashy bombs that they used to be .They’re the new rares. Every new set comes out has some freaking pushed mythic and if it’s standard viable, it’s like an automatic include x4. When you gotta do three or four play sets of mythic, it breaks the bank and they know exactly what they’re doing.
