What perfect timing....I cut off my spent orchid stem today and stuck it in a jar of water. The original orchid plant was a compost bin find from my neighbors and with your care advice bloomed happily for months. So glad I found your books and instagram/youtube videos.
I'm relatively new to orchid cultivation and care and find your content so informative. I have a beautiful Phalaenopsis which died back last year and has recently come into full bloom. I thought it was dead, though the leaves looked healthy, It now looks magnificent with it's brilliant white flowers that are even more bountiful than the original ones. Thanks!
This is such a good idea - I have done as you suggested as my orchid had finished flowering . I keep it on the bathroom and let the flowering stems bend as they wish . I’m excited to see that they can be propagated- thank you Anya 😊
I'm guessing that the little one is a keiki (baby) and I think you have another one on the plant you just showed us. I really think you have 'green fingers' as I've never had much luck with them. Great video thank you❤
Thanks for a great video. What is lost by giving it a shot? The pruned shoots either go in the bin, or you can try to propagate. The parent plant is benefitting from a little pruning, and we might gain some new plants. Like all propagation, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
Where there is life there is hope. I occasionally cut an orchid bloom stalk with flowers still on it off after the other stems have dropped their flowers in order to give the rest of the plant a chance to grow more roots and leaves. I place the flowers in a vase. Sometimes those flowers will last for a couple more weeks but I have never noticed anything else starting to grow on them. Next time I will keep the stems longer as an experiment. It certainly is worth a try. Thanks for the idea.
I've been following you on Instagram and am so pleased to see you on YouTube! I have learned so much from you. I absolutely love propagating plants! I've been experimenting with my indoor plants for a few years. And yes, what joy it brings! My daughter-in-law calls them my science experiments.😆 I started some currently very sparse fliwer beds that I can't wait to fill up through seeds, propagation and division. I so look forward to more of your videos!
I love your enthusiasm but i agree that having success with this is highly unlikely. I do speak from experience. I have tried it. But I will try it again after watching this. 😊
Wystarczy szklanka z wodą a radość i satysfakcja nie do opisania ❤❤❤ życzę wszystkim cierpliwości i sukcesów 💚🌸 zaraz ruszam z nożyczkami w str moich storczyków 😊
