The Hanuman Chalisa is a 16th-century Hindu devotional hymn (stotra) composed by the poet-saint Goswami Tulsidas in Awadhi/Hindi .
It is dedicated to Lord Hanuman, praising his strength, devotion, courage, wisdom, and eternal service to Lord Rama.
Devotees recite the hymn to seek protection from fear, remove obstacles, gain inner strength, and invite peace or positive energy.
Many traditions (such as the Art of Living) note that regular or repeated recitation is believed to bring mental clarity, resolve hardships, and bestow spiritual well-being.
