"The Zabis had some... infighting."
Understatement of the Universal Century.

The thing about zeon is that tomino wrote them inspired by

The overconfidence of the nazis

The zealotry of imperial Japan

And the foolishness of italy

The zabis destroyed zeon and it's successors did it themselves

Gihrenism was still around by UC0153

The most likely biggest reason for Zeon's loss is the fact that they destroy any public reputation outside of Side 3 by using other colonies as a battering ram and killing their civilians along the way, which would make every other colony into a Federation side no matter their view of Earth, as they can claim that the Feddies didn't use their homes as weapons, as seen by Side 4 siding with the Federation in Gundam Thunderbolt.

I hate how hypocritical Zeon were. Regardless of whatever grievances Zeon may have had, and no matter what the Federation did, Zeon was responsible for killing billions in space colonies and on Earth, with Zeon not caring about those lives.

That act alone should have instantly erased whatever sympathy the colonies had for Zeon. What makes it even worse is that this wasn't like Eren Yeager's Rumbling, which was presented as Paradis's last chance to survive against Marley and the rest of the world. Operation British was Zeon's opening move against the Federation.

If only they painted all their Mobile Suits red, they would've gone 3x faster.

War would've been over in three days.

I find there's one missing here: General Elran.

He was a high-ranking Feddie guy, but he was also a Zeek turncoat who got onto the mission to recapture Odessa to make the Feds lose. Indeed, Zeon was very much counting on him to leak the Feds' intel to them so they could more effectively respond. But unfortunately for them Elran was found out by Amuro, and summarily dealt with accordingly.

Had Elran managed to keep under cover, the Battle of Odessa could have turned out VERY differently.

Seeing the reasons makes me realize how much ZAFT made much more smarter decision than Zeon

In Gquux Garma just left the military and got married

I don't agree. I think Char attacking Jaburo when he did was probably the best time because there was no guarantee that those mobile suits would have been ready to go and be used for attack

Number 6 from a meta perspective is good for a “Monster/Villain of the Week” TV format, and later on to sell toys and model kits. From a lore perspective, building the next war ending weapon is not a bad idea. As long as it ends the war. Then it becomes a huge resource burden that… well you know.

yeah no gihren was not capable, as bigmac explained gihiren maxed out his charisma but didn't leave any points for intelligence.

15:18 win for deus ex machine, literalmente

When you mentioned the Zabi's whacked Zeon Deikun, i was under the impression from the origin manga/movies that he died from his own(self applied) drug overdose.  It would explain his mania/fevor towards the end in wanting to wage war with the federation that early.  The whole reason in that timeline why Char hates the Zabi's was due to Jimba Ral's (the blue giants father) paranoid & conspiracy fueled grooming of Char.  But to each their own interpretation.  Still, its a nice job on this video/essay.

In regards of the what-if scenario about the Battle of Jaburo, Kakarot197 had already addressed it a few months back. You should definitely check out his material.

This was a lot of fun! Nothing overly new imo, but I enjoy this kind of video!

You should do why the Titans and Neo-Zeon lost. Or why Zaft lost.

When the federation suits are always better, it's because there did a cheap map deduce of the gundom suit, they did keep what works and did make it affordable. So they can make it mass, produce it. See, gun names have lots of proprietary hardware in it that are custom built for it. So gundoms are normally for the ace pilots, only

All good reasons. My favourites always involve Amuro piloting the Gundam.

15:20 No? As far as I am aware, Garma is alive as well, because he quit the army early and went to live on his life, he just wasn't shown on screen or mentioned in the show at all, but I do believe this was mentioned in one of GQ creators' twitter posts

Bonus mentions. Wasted all their best pilots on the colony drop weakening their army overall and maki new recruits less capable as we see by the end with them piloting the best suits. Switch the best for the worst and by the end they'd have a way better chance or cycle out the pilots.

Funding. Federation used what they had better making their suits faster to deploy build and repair while zeon was wasting way more on fancy suits and special orders slowing down their strikes.

The colony drop itself. Of course the earth was not going to surrender you caused so much destruction the moment they got suits it was a wash for zeon. Also where else to go but space aka where zeon is when a large portion of earth was just destroyed? That's like destroying a country and the only place to go is literally to your enemies

And final one. Facing off against anime teenagers.

Honestly, I think Zeon would have a better chance lasting longer in the war if Gihren dead from a "heart Attack" just few months before the One Year starts.
