My name is Johnny Weir,” he wrote in a 2014 Falls Church News-Press column. “I have succeeded many times but I am just as proud of many of my great failures. I failed to win a medal at the Olympics, but I went twice and skated the performances of my lifetime. I failed to have a successful first marriage, but I allowed myself to love.”

I love how Johnny embraces the art of figure skating. He does it purely out of love for it, not for winning medals only.

Yuri on ice paid homage to him by portraying young victor as him. It's adorable.

His closing statement about the 2010 Olympics was poignant and touching. He should have been on the podium in Vancouver, but living well really is the best revenge. Congratulations on a great job in Sochi, and may we see you and Tara for many years to come!

I've been watching skating for nearly 30 years. Bravo to Johnny for adding a very engaging perspective and insight into skaters' choices and sacrifice for their extraordinary art. And Johnny - LOVE your look and unwillingness to sink to the same old tired comments.

So bright and well-spoken. And how wonderful to watch him on the ice!

Wow! I never realized how well-spoken he is. I've paid more attention to the pomp. Well done.

I admire him. He's awfully honest about himself and what he wants to portray and legacy he wishes to impact on figure skating long after he retires from it. :)

He has beautiful eyes! I love that he's his own person and lives his life the way he wants. I'm glad he got out of Amish country or all that awesome talent would have never flourished. Bravo, Johnny Weir!
