Assuming trans is functional I found removing the big plastic shroud (6 bolts)easier to change belt. Release cable, spring, replace belt. I even changed fluid while trans was upside down.

What a terrific and through video for replacing the belt! Thank you for doing this! Without it I really wouldn’t know where to begin on doing this. May I ask a question: my similar Honda boggs down with the blade engaged and the self propelled engaged in grass height that I don’t think should cause this. Consequently if you just push the mower over the same grass without the self propelled engaged it does not bogg down. Would you think that is a worn belt or something else?

I have excessive side to side movement of the rear axle which causes the drive gears on the inside of the wheels and the pinion gear on the axle to not contact properly. It causes a sound and a symptom like the pinion gears are worn out,but they are new.The skipping sound and intermitten drive function. Be cause the axle is able to slide to far side to side.
Do you know if that would be an issue with the bushing and bearings on the height adjusters or could the transmission have wear on it or just lack of grease. Could repacking it with grease solve the problem.i guess I could pull the cover and have a look I just never even thought about that. Thanks
