A surgeon to be instantly fired and being sued means it was "high and drunk and killed a patient" level bad. Normally, doctors are very protective of each other, and they are all insured in case of medical accidents.
if they didnt take her license she could def find work somewhere in the medical field prob nowhere near her previous pay but there is a need for medical professionals on staff in multiple job fields
Again.... always totally fine to go zero contact with bad family. OP has a bigger heart than me. I wouldn't have let her stay at your place, and i would've evicted her the second i caught her going through my mail. Why keep tolerating this BS? At least the grandparents werent taking crap from anybody.
With how fast the hospital was to throw a surgeon under the bus, they had to have already had either complaints or reservations w/ her, possibly w her attitude n treatment of people, n used this opportunity to cut her dry w/o room for her to fight back or have it on them the lawsuit she caused.
All the more foolish, she was so cocky she had no savings to fall back on in the event of an emergency.
My favorite part of these AI stories is how they have no understanding of familial relationships.
"I heard from a family cousin," joins some of my favorites like, "amutual cousin told me that my sister..." and, "My parents told me their party was for immediate family only so I wasn't invited."
You know when doctors mess up they hospital try to hide it or minimize it to a point that their insurance may have to pay something to the family, which makes it hard but that to get more insurance, which means the hospital don’t fire them. They give them all low level jobs like stick them in an emergency room Or doing the little things good doctors don’t want to waste time on or they keep them around to write scripts or sing off on things so good doctors don’t have to come in for
Just FYI, you choose your family as an adult. If they treated poorly, you cut them off completely without discussion. Allowing people who abuse you to continue to abuse you isn't their fault, it is yours for not recognizing the problem and handling it.
That doesn't happen in US, hospitals require all Doctors to carry malpractice insurance. They also dont fire them right away (even if they kill a patient). Also when you sign paperwork to have surgery you agree that you understand the doctor isn't personally responsible. They are the most protected industry there is. Hate fact stories.
