That was a tramp or rather 'gentleman of the road' walking down the street. Used to see them often passing through villages, always generally polite and well spoken fellows.

Wow, Ministry of Transport, St Christopher House, Southwark Street. Never thought I'd see that place on Youtube. Long gone now, was demolished ages ago. Worked in the Traffic Engineering Division there from 1972 to 1978,  this video stirred up a few old memories.

I have lived in Stevenage since 1999, and traffic on the A1M is a nightmare around rush hour.. Junction 6 northbound goes from 3 lanes to 2, and so creates a bottle neck..with predictable traffic tail backs

2:05  Ernest Maples the real villain behind the Beeching cuts.  Family business - road building.  Our severely overcrowded, gridlocked roads, towns and cities, increasing danger and pollution while vital alternative rail routes are now grass tracks is all down to this man!

The person delivering the milk looked more like in his late 50,s instead of 47 but people looked a lot older then than what they were now,  anyway love the look at life series and seeing how things have changed, i think some things were better back then,  we did not have the destraction of mobile phones etc,  i am not saying all were better then but some things were and the ladys looked nice in there skirts and dresses back then.

We desperately need a new link road in Norwich,  the green party have opposed it all the way, we have lots of traffic going through little villages and its a problem. The reason we cant have the new road is some rare bats and after scouring old maps they've found 1 acre of ancient woodland. Modern road planning takes it all into account and looks for solutions but the bloody anti new road people wont listen. Traffic going through the tiny country lanes do more damage than the proposed new road ever will. Its take 100 years to bypass Long Stratton. 😢
