Giada Bocellari, Alberto Stasi's lawyer, returns to the comparison between the DNA collected from the bicycle pedals and that of Exhibit 29, the teaspoon used by Chiara Poggi. According to the lawyer, a quantity of DNA equal to 2.78 nanograms per microliter was detected on the teaspoon, but subsequent analyses did not yield a readable genetic profile. The attribution to the victim, according to the lawyer's consultants, therefore occurred through manual assignment of markers and not automatically by the software. The same amount of DNA was detected on the pedal sample after purification, despite an initial quantification having yielded an inhibited result. From this coincidence, Bocellari hypothesizes a possible accidental mix-up between the samples during laboratory operations, while ruling out any intentional mix-up. The defense also maintains that the failure to transmit the data remains central.
