1. I want to make it clear that I do not want any pity, I did not make this video for the purpose of making people think that I’m in a uniquely bad situation compared to everyone else or that I am deserving of sympathy of any sort. Everyone has issues and is struggling right now and I just want to voice some of my frustrations on the state of this AI situation as I feel it will resonate with people that have similar thinking or are in similar situations to my own.
2. Using AI in the process of creating art, such as generating an image and painting on top of it. While doing this doesn’t make you any less skilled than you previously were before using it, I think that the principles behind it are completely backward and reductive to anyone who wants to become or is a legitimate illustrator. I mean what kind of artist needs someone (or something) else to create art for you? Wasn’t the entire reason for learning art TO DO it yourself?
3. AI in other industries, it’s funny to think that the people advocating for AI to replace artists can’t think of the next step of this process which is automating every other industry of entertainment (music, movies, shows). As if the AI revolution is just going to stop once it completely takes over art and isn’t going to consume absolutely everything that people are able to create digitally. At that point, why would anyone enjoy anything on the internet anymore when all of it is just meaningless shit created by bots???
4. What should artists do exactly? For this I am still not completely sure, I gave a few suggestions in the video but nothing is certain. Right now I believe that the best thing to future proof yourself as an independent artist is to build a following that knows for certain that your art is your own before AI takes over the industry. For when AI gets to that point, everyone is going to doubt new artists that did not put out art before AI was just able to create anything for anyone, and there would be no definitive way to prove yourself.
