The demolition crew will never be able to inflict more damage to this building than Bank of America already did

always a shame to see such architecturally unique buildings left to rot

This building is a perfect equivalency of what Bank of America does to the country. Takes something beautiful and creative, destroys it, and leaves it to rot.

This is what the apocalypse will really be like. Abandoned buildings full of emergency supplies, machinery left running, beeping and buzzing to itself and plants taking over.

My father worked for Best Products until 1991 or 1992, I think.  His office was in this building, and I remember visiting him here.  I never thought I'd see the inside of this building again.  Thank you.

Props to Bank of America for ripping the soul out of a creative office building.

We covered it pretty thoroughly tbh, there was no basement and the lack of any fancy executive offices was likely because of the modernizations done by Bank of America, who used it primarily as a call center.
Edit: this was supposed to be a reply to another commenter but YouTube didn't post it as such(?) but now it's heavily upvoted so I'm leaving it 😂

The big stone eagles go so hard, hope they can be saved again

There's something eerie about an abandoned matrix printer giving out server error messages. Goes with that backroom vibe well ...

For additional context, the founders of Best Products, the Lewises, were major art geeks, and it was rumored that they would even trade their own merchandise in exchange for more art for their collection, most of which was eventually donated to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Ironically, many of their contracted buildings were designed to act as artistic commentary on consumer culture and capitalism, and it is painfully cruel irony that post-bankruptcy, all their buildings were either completely demolished or had their unique artistic features removed by their new corporate owners.

Imagine theres an apocalypse and you go to check out the funny building nearby and its FILLED with water

I thought I was hungry for another episode, but as it turns out I was thirsty for it.

as a networking geek i'm honestly pretty impressed the network stayed testing this long, those paper trails show all the way up till march 2023.
that pile of paper represents one line of text per day for 30 years. pretty cool.

“Store in a cool dry place” does not include a hot moldy abandoned building. What a waste of good bottled water.

That amount of water just sitting there unused is actually atrocious

As someone who’s from Richmond and lived through that water crisis this is 1) insane 2) had no idea about all those water bottles. When we were given our water rations they were just 2 liters of emergency boxed water per person per day. I never saw anyone giving out name brand bottled water like this besides some restaurants. An additional infuriating thing is YES our city is expecting and worried about having another water crisis. The government denied any funding to help fix the infrastructure. I always keep bottled water in my house just in case. Hopefully this video gets ahold of some people in the city because that’s a crazy amount of bottled water to just be sitting there.

What an amazing building, and what a criminal drywall job

That renovation really created such an uncomfortable liminal space feeling.  No wonder nobody wanted the building anymore.

Imagine being in charge of renovating a building like this and messing it up so badly that two companies abandon the building entirely.

That building looks like something you'd see in Fallout. Those Eagles are so cool.

That was definitely the sound of a hydraulic elevator with not enough hydraulic fluid in it 12:21
