When my company closed during the pandemic, I started reselling vintage clothing and home decor to pay the bills. Now 6 years later, my side gig has grown into a thriving business to supplement my retirement income. I love setting my own schedule, curating interesting pieces and being able to shop for a living. At age 65, it's also something I can do for many years ahead!

Jesse's so quick off the mark: "It's not a Lane. It's a Lame."

@ucsbalum73 6 months ago

For a guy that was once very camera shy Jesse has sure blossomed. I have to say Jesse has been showing us his witty, clever side more and more. He had me laughing quite a bit and the faux Lane table he called Lame was a quick response that got an out loud belly laugh from me. I’m so glad you two are doing this together full time now as you compliment each other well. The trophys he kept finding were hilarious.

I just found a stack of Fire and Light dinner plates last night at Goodwill for $2.99 each! Never knew they made vases, what an awesome find.

You go Jesse. You made the channel twice as good! 😊❤

That Fire and Light vase is everything!!🔥

I do like this style of video because honestly there are probably a lot of us out here, myself included, that really only go to one or two thrift stores regularly- not driving out of town etc. So it is fun to see that you can still find gems at the same place day after day!

Can you do an episode where Jesse goes into the stores on his own and tries to pick up what he thinks Laura would? 😍 Then later Laura can go and see what she finds, but the best stuff (hopefully) will already be picked by Jesse and revealed to her at home? Bonus points if Jesse styles it 😍😄🫶

I work at a thrift store, and it’s insane to me how many “regulars” we have that hang out for hours, waiting for carts/racks to come out or sitting in the furniture section contemplating a piece of art or comparing finds…😂 A lot of the regulars are very nice, just amazes me they don’t seem to shake things up and maybe go to another thrift store or something but choose to always hangout at one.
-that calligraphy water dropper….so interesting I was wondering what on earth it was!

I just love how much you guys like to give us advice on how to make thrifting work. It is so generous of you to share your knowledge—you worked through the experience needed to become as good as you are, and now you are passing the results of that experience along. You guys are great! 😊❤

I have been thrifting since the 1970s and reselling since the 1980s. I have always done a weekly trip or gone to the same thrift multiple times a week and you are correct, once you have done a complete assessment, it makes each trip easier to spot new merchandise.
Great video as always!!

I've never heard of "Fire and Light" before but I'm in love with the coloring of that vase.❤

Pro tip on those Japanese metal teapots, check the glaze inside. If it’s smoothe inside, then it’s a good quality pot. If it is rough texture inside it’s a poor quality one that will not be worth much and will end up giving the tea a metallic taste.

So glad to see you've been able to create a life around buying and selling the things you love to fill the gap left from the inability to have a child. The pain can be so hard to live with but you two have evidently survived and thrived! Well done.
