Chariots is a legend and seems like an absolute gentleman. Would love to hear more regularly from him.

Saints fan here. Can still remember the first time me and my mates saw Martin play for Widnes against us. Very early in his career and hadn't done much until he touched the ball then whoosh, straight round Phil Vievers. What really goes unmentioned is how he was a winger who learned from Ellery that bloodhound ability to sniff around where the action was and capitalise on it with their skill and physicality. Even know the pair of them are the best said friends would say their the best we've seen in their positions.

Chariots of fire on one wing and Henderson Gill on the other, Carlaw Park late 80’s… all I remember is the amount of Vaseline on their legs. At least a pot per leg.

From memory, Henderson Gill down the left wing from his own 20m, with no less than 5 Kiwi players sliding off his legs as he hugged the chalk to score… possible twice from memory.
Great days of Rugby League.

Us Kiwis has Whiz, who’d start chucking at the drop of a hat, and the Poms had Andy Gregory, another feisty grub 😂
